Anthropology Through Film explores anthropological uses of film as a research tool, for documentation, for studying how film can provide a voice to peoples muted by cultural difference—and as pathways for greater cultural understanding. Students gain familiarity with the genres of ethnographic film and media, basic aspects of visual representation and communication, and an understanding of visual works focused on significant issues. Potential projects include editing and/or creating wikipedia pages on "hidden figures" / figures," films, and significant issues related to ethnographic media. This is a fully online course.
