Assignment - Translating Articles

When translating articles from another language Wikipedia into the English Wikipedia, consider the following:

  • Be sure to find a topic that is better covered in a different language than on the English Wikipedia. You do not want to duplicate information.
  • Adhere to the same policy standards that are required for any Wikipedia entry.
  • Be sure to check sources, especially if not in English. You can definitely use non-English sources on the English Wikipedia, but they must meet the same standards of verifiability that is expected of any source.

When translating from the English Wikipedia into another language Wikipedia:

  • Remember that each language Wikipedia has its own norms and policies. Do not assume that what you learned from the English Wikipedia is acceptable on another language Wikipedia.
  • Be sure to find a topic that is well covered on the English Wikipedia and under developed or entirely missing from the Wikipedia into which you'd like to transalate.
Assignment - Final article

It's the final week to develop your article.

  • Read Editing Wikipedia page 15 to review a final check-list before completing your assignment.
  • Don't forget that you can ask for help from your Wikipedia Expert at any time!
