The railroad of Rapid City, Black Hills & Western Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, situated entirely within the State of South Dakota. The main line extends from Rapid City westerly to Mystic, a distance of 32.383 miles. The carrier also owns 4.660 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 37.043 miles of all tracks.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated February 20, 1909, under the general laws of the State of South Dakota, for the purpose of purchasing, constructing, and operating a railroad from Rapid City to Mystic, S. DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The entire 32.383 miles of railroad owned by the carrier was acquired by purchase, through the bondholders' committee, at foreclosure sale of the Missouri River & North Western Railway Company.
