Location and General Description of Property

The Louisville, New Orleans and Texas Railway Company of Arkansas, hereinafter called the Louisville, New Orleans and Texas of Arkansas, consists of a terminal yard in Helena, Ark., and includes 0.895 mile of road.

Introductory

The Louisville, New Orleans and Texas of Arkansas is a corporation of Arkansas. It is controlled by the Mississippi Valley Corporation through ownership of the outstanding capital stock. The latter is in turn controlled by the Illinois Central. The records do not indicate that this company controls any common-carrier corporation. The property has always been operated by the Yazoo and Mississippi Valley.

No accounting records of the company were obtained.

Corporate History

The Louisville, New Orleans and Texas of Arkansas was incorporated April 24, 1889, under the general laws of Arkansas to construct certain tracks in the city of Helena, Ark.

Leased Railway Property

The entire property of the Louisville, New Orleans and Texas of Arkansas is leased to the Yazoo and Mississippi Valley for 99 years October 25, 1892. The terms of the lease are given in the chapter on leased railway property in report on the Yazoo and Mississippi Valley.

Under agreement of April 1, 1909, the Missouri and North Arkansas Railroad Company has the joint use of certain tracks at Helena, Ark.
