The railroad of Fellsmere Railroad, hereinafter called the carrier, is an operating name given to that portion of the property of the Fellsmere Farms Company, which is used for common-carrier purposes. It is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, located on the east-central coast of Florida, and extends from Sebastian to Fellsmere, both in the State of Florida, a distance of 10.678 miles. The carrier also owns yard and side tracks totaling 2.258 miles. Its road thus embraces 12.936 miles of all tracks owned. In Appendix 1 will be found a general description of the property of the carrier.

Corporate history.—The carrier, whose principal office is located at Fellsmere, has never been incorporated. All of the property operated is used under oral license from the Fellsmere Farms Company. The Fellsmere Farms Company was incorporated May 26, 1910, under the general laws of the State of Florida, with various corporate powers, among others, to buy, sell, drain, and improve farm lands, to manufacture lumber, to manufacture and deal in phosphates, and to acquire, construct, maintain, and lease tramroads or other roads, or other transportation facilities. The detailed facts as to the development of the fixed physical property are given in Appendix 2.

The railroad from Sebastian to Fellsmere was constructed by J. G. White & Company, incorporated, and was completed in September, 1910. The Fellsmere Farms Company used this portion of the line from the date of its completion to May 1, 1911, when commercial operations were begun.
