The railroad of the Dardanelle and Russellville Railroad Company, herein called the carrier, is a single-track, standard-gauge, steam railroad, located in northwestern Arkansas. The main line extends northerly from North Dardanelle to Russellville, 4.279 miles, and short branch lines extend from North Dardanelle to Sand Plant, and from Bernice Shaft Junction to Bernice Shaft, aggregating 5.317 miles of first main track. The carrier also owns 1.050 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 6.367 miles of all tracks owned and used.

CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated under the general laws of the State of Arkansas, through articles of incorporation dated January 13, 1900, filed February 23, 1900, for the purpose of reorganizing and operating the railroad property formerly owned by the Dardanelle & Russellville Railway Company. That company, the only predecessor of the carrier, was incorporated February 13, 1883, under the general laws of the State of Arkansas. On January 13, 1900, the property, rights, and franchises were conveyed to George B. Rose, who, on the same date, reconveyed them to the carrier.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The owned mileage of the carrier, 5.317 miles, was all acquired by deed dated January 13, 1900, from George B. Rose, trustee, in the reorganization of the predecessor company. The mileage was constructed by that company in 1883.
