Newly discovered, August 2005 edit

{{tea-stub}} / Category:Tea stubs edit

And {{tea stub}}, a redirect to it. Only has 19 articles; was created a month ago. --Mairi 07:41, 15 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

If the category were edited to Category:Tea and coffee stubs, with the same template, this might be usable to ease the load in Category:Drink stubs. I don't know how many coffee-related articles there are in that stub category, I hope to have the count finished tonight or tomorrow. There are also several tea-related stubs in the Category:Drink stubs that could be {{tea-stub}}bed. So this one has potential. Aecis 12:40, 15 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
ISTR when I was changing food-stub to drink-stub on articles about a month back that there wre quite a lot of coffee stubs. I'm surprised that there are as many as 19 tea stubs, but using it for coffee as well might well double it. Grutness...wha? 13:00, 15 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it will be much of an effort to have this category reach the threshold. I think it would be best to create two separate templates ({{tea-stub}} and {{coffee-stub}}) feeding into one category (Category:Tea and coffee stubs). Aecis 13:19, 15 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Not often done, although there's no reason why it shouldn't be - and it would make it easier to split later if needed (although I really can't see that happening). The other option would be to have one as a redirect and word the template so that it refers to both tea and coffee. Grutness...wha? 13:39, 15 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I have now gone through Category:Drink stubs and Category:Coffee, and I have thusfar found 8 tea-related stubs and 24 coffee-related stubs. This would mean that there would be 51 articles in the new stub category. I still need to go through Category:Tea, and Category:Drink stubs needs closer inspection. Newly discovered, December 2005 edit

{{Canada-athlete-stub}} / Category:Canadian athlete stubs edit

Created today, used on 8 articles. Based on its usage, it ought to be {{Canada-sportbio-stub}}. However, do we want to split sportbio stubs by nationality, and if so, is this one viable? --Mairi 22:39, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I like Aecis' idea of seperate templates feeding into one category. Thelb4 09:28, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Rescoped as above via SFD. Logged discussion here. --TheParanoidOne 11:56, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

{{Trotstub}} / Category:Trotkyism stubs edit

Ok, this has quite a few problems. The template name is bad, the category is misspelled, the text and names imply it's for the political philosophy but the category parent and usage indicate it could just be for political parties. It might be large enough if it was for Trotskyism in general, but I'm not sure we want stub types for political philosophies. --Mairi 23:05, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • We don't even have a general communism stub, which would be far more useful if we were going to split this way. We do have some ideological stubs, though - liberal-stub, for one. I don't like it. If it's for parties, then I'm already in favour of ditching the by-ideology split in favour of by-country. If it's for the ideology itself, Communism is notorious for its splintering. Do we want Crypto-Marxo-Stalinist-stub? Or Reformed-Post-Maoist-stub? We'd be drowning in templates very quickly. Grutness...wha? 00:14, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • There is a set of people who take a special interest in the history etc. of Trotskyism, so I think this stub would be very useful in directing us to articles we could work on; and from this point of view I think it would often be more useful than a sort by country etc., especially since we trots tend to take an interest in the world movement as a whole. It certainly ought to be used for Trotskyism in general (bios, theoretical points, etc.), I suspect it's only being used for organizations mainly because there are fewer stubs of other sorts, it certainly ought to be used for other articles. It definitely needs some straightening out, though; I am going to see what I can do. Rafaelgr 22:30, 14 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

{{tobacco-stub}} edit

Created on the 30th. A tobacco stub might be useful, but this one had severe problems, as it consisted of the {{Stub Category}} template. Fixed the template and restubbed the article that used it (and added it to the one I was checking to see it was available for.) No category, but I'd rather wait and see if others think it's worth keeping. Caerwine 01:56, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • This was half-heartedly suggested when cigar-stub was deleted a while ago. could be useful, but needs fixing. Grutness...wha? 02:33, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

{{Seuss-book-stub}} / Category:Dr. Seuss book stubs edit

Created today and added to WP:WSS/ST, used on 35 articles. I doubt it'll get much larger tho. --Mairi 02:28, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

One stub, two stub, red link, blue link,
Expand the scope be what I think.
With toons and toys, a {{Seuss-stub}} should
With much other Suess stuff that's good
Reach sixty-plus stubs in a pinch
So there's no need to be a Grinch!
Caerwine 06:00, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, nice :). Anyway, upmerged and template/category deleted via SFD. Logged discussion here. --TheParanoidOne 14:11, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

{{Cold-War-stub}} / Category:Cold war stubs edit

Created today, used on 1 article. Might be sufficiently useful; but if so the category needs to be (speedily) renamed to Category:Cold War stubs. {{ColdWar-stub}} would also be slightly more standard. --Mairi 04:30, 5 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

{{Christianmusic-stub}} / Category:Christianmusic stubs edit

Created today. Looks well formed. Not proposed and not listed in WP:WSS/ST. Currently has no articles. There are already quite a number of Christian band stubs in {{band-stub}} and children, but not identifiable as Christian music. Could be useful. --Bruce1ee 12:34, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

My problem with this is that it has quite a broad scope; I'm not sure it's useful to group stubs about Gregorian chant, Christian rock, and gospel music all together, as I doubt those would be expanded by the same groups of editors. --Mairi 04:14, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

More US state politician stubs edit

All created today and used on 1 article. Look well formed (after removing spaces in template names). Probably all worthwhile, but it would be nice to check before them being created. I left a note on the creator's page, particularly about the spaces. --Mairi 03:43, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

There are also {{New Mexico-politician-stub}} and {{South Carolina-politician-stub}} (on SFD for renaming now). Conscious 19:37, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

And {{Delaware-politician-stub}} stub too. --Mairi 04:38, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

{{Mexico-tv-stub}} / Category:Mexico television program stubs edit

Created today, unused. Judging by the main categories, might not get much use. The entire {{tv-stub}} hierarchy probably needs some rethinking, as it's not clear why {{Foo-tv-stub}} would just be programs, and some (like this) might be viable in a more-broad scope... --Mairi 04:07, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Category renamed to Category:Mexican television stubs via SFD. Added to WP:WSS/ST. --TheParanoidOne 23:05, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

{{Faroe-bio-stub}} / Category:Faroese people stubs edit

Created today, used on 15 articles. I'm highly skeptical there's enough suitable articles, tho. --Mairi 04:07, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Besides, The Faroe- stubs are in need of a rename to Faroes- Caerwine Caerwhine 03:22, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Upmerged into {{faroes-stub}} via SFD. Template and category deleted. Logged discussion here. --TheParanoidOne 13:29, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

{{Philippines-politician-stub}} / Category:Philippines politician stubs edit

Createdy today, used once. Category lacks any parents. Might be viable. --Mairi 02:52, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Still stuck with only 28 stubs. I haven't seen growth potential here for a long while. Perhaps it should be deleted again? Valentinian (talk) 21:26, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

{{Real estate-stub}} / Category:Real estate stubs edit

Created and listed on WP:WSS/ST by Karmafist today, used on 33 articles. No parent, bad name. Conscious 07:28, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • A real shame, this one is. I'd been looking for a stub like this, as there are quite a few people in the US-bio-stub category that I've been stub sorting that could use this (in combination with US-business-bio-stub) as they are notable for being real estate developers. (Category:Developers is a sub cat of Category:Real estate.) There are easily enough stubs for this one to have been created properly had the procedures wich Karmafist is well aware of had just been followed. Recommend sending this to SFD for a name change to bring the template in line with the naming guidelines as {{realestate-stub}} with a redirect from {{property-stub}} as a redirect from an alternate name. As the stub cat name parallels the main cat name, I don't see a need for a rename of the category. Caerwine Caerwhine 21:34, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
{{Realestate-stub}} would be far better. Not sure we need a {{property-stub}} redirect, though, but a separate {{Realestate-bio-stub}} would be useful. This can be moved to the first easily enough, but the original name will need to be sfd'd. Grutness...wha? 23:00, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Given that Karmafist knows the stub naming rules, this was either deliberate vandalism or an accidental typo. I've assumed good faith and speedy-deleted the original name as a typo. Grutness...wha? 23:44, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
