Wikipedia:WikiProject Skepticism/Articles attracting pseudoscientific edits

Project members can check this watchlist much like they would their personal watchlist.

Note: when adding an article to the list, it is important to add the actual article and not a redirect to it — otherwise changes to the actual article will not show up on the "Check the list".

Articles

edit

Directions: add new articles using {{article:Title}} below.

Important notes:

  1. Wikipedia biographies should not be listed in this section but in the next section. This is in order to encourage the convention of sorting by last name, first name, which is inconsistent with the literal alphabetical convention for sorting Wikipedia article names.
  2. The articles listed here mainly concern pseudoscientific "theories", but it will sometimes be appropriate to include articles on mainstream scientific theories which attract many pseudoscientific POV-pushing edits.
  3. Some simple criteria for inclusion: Does some crank claim that a crank topic wears the mantle of science? Is a legitimate topic the target of frequent crank POV-pushing edits?
  4. Help us control the growth of this list! The following topics are (somewhat arbitrarily) excluded from this list:
    • alternative medicine,
    • ancient astronauts, catastrophism, extraterrestrial visitations, Velikosky, etc.,
    • astrology,
    • conspiracy theories,
    • paranormal topics (divination, ESP, ghosts, psychics, remote viewing, etc.),
    • pseudohistory, pseudoeconomics, etc.
    • UFOs.

Biographies

edit

Important notes:

  1. Because biographies are naturally listed under last name, first name order, we list them separately from other articles.
  2. Most entries here will be wikibiographies of persons whose work is widely regarded as pseudoscience, fringe science, or perhaps protoscience, but sometimes it may be appropriate to include a wikibiography of a mainstream scientist which frequently attracts cranky edits.
  3. To keep this list semi-manageable, we limit the biographies listed in this section to persons meeting the following two criteria:
    • 'possess or claim some kind of scientific credentials,
    • have promoted pseudoscientific claims (excluding extrascientific topics mentioned above), or (in a few cases), persons whose biographies very frequently attract pseudoscientific/crank edits.

Categories

Instructions: please add new categories below using *[[:Category:catname]] ([[Category talk:catname|talk page]]) Please try to use indentation to roughly suggest the categorization tree.
