This subpage is supposed to include the articles primarily about relatives of characters. I think we should merge and redirect to their respective main character article. Phineas Nigellus Black may want his entry moved to a list of HP characters when one is created, I don't know though. Aberforth currently has his own article, so we don't need to worry about his entry in Dumbledore for now. The rest I feel are sufficiently tied to their relative to be covered in their article. The family tree templates are more than less tied to these articles, and I think they qualify as cruft—propose to orphan and delete [clarify:the templates]. – Basar (talk · contribs) 04:02, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fact is, they just don't stand up to reliable sources right now or outside universe information. And if they ever do, these articles aren't going to be the starting point. Best to merge what is useful but scrap most of it. Judgesurreal777 04:38, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A lot of the information is just fluff to make the article look longer. Take a look at Riddle family: Thomas and Mary Riddle, which are names simply from the films, and Tom Riddle Sr. are covered in the LV article when it discusses how he kills his father and grandparents. The Tom Marvolo Riddle section is just backstory of LV, which I believe is covered in that article too. Traits is covered, representation in film is covered, derivation is OR. That article then is basically done. It's really late and I don't have time to look at the others, but I'm sure they're very similar in that they're just buildup over time of people adding in various details which are covered in other, more notable articles. --Fbv65e del / ☑t / ☛c || 05:17, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agree, with the exception that we should merge the information about Phineas Nigellus Black into the minor characters article. It isn't really covered anywhere else, and he should at least get a mention, as his role is big enough. Neville Longbottom 22:34, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the merging of the Riddles and the Gaunts' to LV's article. The Gaunts' may be redirected to the "Sixth book" section (as that book is the one that explains their background). Though, I disagree with any merging of the Black family or James and Lily. I think that their articles are OK the way they are. Lord Opeth 22:19, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I reread the articles about the Blacks and realised, that all the information about Regulus Black is currently in that article as well. That part definitely needs to be kept. Therefore either keep the article or merge Regulus into another section (either Minor Characters or Dark Wizards, if the later article is kept). Right now I merged and redirected the Gaunts into Voldemort's article, without creating individual pages for Marvolo, Morfin and Merope, but instead a summary of the family (focusing on Merope, as her section was the largest). I did something similar with the Riddles: a summary of the family without creating individual pages for Thomas, Mary and Tom Sr, focusing on Tom of course; however, I did not redirected the Riddle family's page as there is still the section about Tom Marvolo Riddle, and I think that we should discuss on what to do with it. I removed the Blacks, Dumbledores, Gaunts and Riddles as there are no articles about them anymore (it's been several weeks since then). Some info about the Black family was moved to the Blood purity article. Dumbledore family's background is explained in Albus, Aberforth and Ariana's articles. The Riddles and the Gaunts were moved to Voldemort's (without creating individual pages for each of the families' members). "Relatives of Harry Potter" and "Potter family" redirect to "James and Lily Potter". I again support Keeping that article. Lord Opeth 20:00, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
