Contest rules

1. Eligibility: The contest is open to individuals of any nationality who are interested in creating Wikipedia biographies of Ghanaian persons in the English Wikipedia.

2. Entry Criteria: Participants must create a new Wikipedia biography page from the list entitled "Entries" in English. The biography should include accurate and verifiable information, properly sourced references, and be written in a neutral tone.

3. Content Guidelines: The biography should provide a comprehensive overview of the person's life. Sub headings may include but not limited to; early life, career, and personal life.

4. No plagiarism: All submissions must be worded by yourself. Plagiarism or copying content from other sources will result in disqualification.

5. Copyright Compliance: Participants should adhere to copyright rules and only use images, information, and references that are properly licensed or in the public domain.

6. Language and Formatting: All biographies should be written in English, and follow Wikipedia's guidelines for formatting, structure, and citation.

7. Deadline: Contest ends on 25 December 2023.

8. Judging Criteria: Submissions will be evaluated based on accuracy, completeness, quality of references, adherence to Wikipedia guidelines, and the size of the content.

9. Disqualification: Participants will be disqualified if they violate any contest rules, engage in disruptive editing, vandalize existing articles, or fail to meet the criteria mentioned above.

10. Duplication: Creating an already existing page on English Wikipedia will result in a points penalty. Contestants are therefore advised to search thoroughly for the names on the English Wikipedia before they begin to create the page.

11. Prizes and Awards: Prizes will be awarded to participants who create the most comprehensive, well-written, and valuable biographies in English.

12. Announcement of Winners: The winners should be announced publicly, and will be featured on the contest website, social media platforms and the GOIF website.

Outcome
  1. When you are done creating the Wikipedia page,
  2. Claim your entry by [here] to sign ~~~~ next to your entry.
  3. Jury will review your edits and add  Y next to your signature if a Wikipedia article you created or edited meets the contest rules.
  4. Another facilitator will increase your points on the leader board if a green correct sign,   Done is added by a page you worked on. The green correct sign, shows the Wikipedia page is completed.
  5. If you do not see any of the correct green signs by a page in the list or a facilitator adds   Not done next to your signature, then you don't get a point; in which case another participant can come around and work on it to claim the point for that entry, or you may go back to working on the entry, or try a different page altogether.
