A "gorilla fart" is a mixed alcoholic drink served in a shooter glass. It generally contains ¾ ounce (2.25 cl) of rum and ¾ ounce (2.25 cl) bourbon and is served layered by pouring in the bourbon first, and then gently spooning the rum over the top to achieve a layered effect. Variations include adding Tabasco brand pepper sauce or using double the amount of rum, omitting the bourbon and including the Tobasco sauce. Most recipes call for Bacardi as the brand of rum and Wild Turkey as the brand of bourbon.
The obvious origin of the name is the fiery effect the drink has when downed quickly with either the bourbon or the Tobasco sauce (or both) striking the back of the throat.
