This subpage is to be used for activities relating to the lists of institutions of higher education in states and union territories of India.

Goals edit

  • To standardise the format of the lists
  • To make the lists as complete as possible w.r.t colleges and complete w.r.t universities
  • To promote as many lists as possible to Featured List status

Current Status edit

In the following table:

  • Move:represents moving the list to List of institutions of higher education in statename
  • Merge:Add the name of any list that needs to be merged
  • Section:Add the status of the sectioning of the list per the above format
  • Universities:Add the status of the listing of universities in the state as listed at List of universities in India
  • Colleges:Add the status of the colleges section

FAQs edit

  • Are the universities to be listed in each list?

Yes, even though there is a List of universities in India, the universities will be listed in state-wise lists for easier accessibility to readers.

  • Are the colleges listed on these lists?

No, the college-listings are to be university-wise for easy access and maintenance. These lists will only include wikilinks to those lists.

  • Are the colleges listed according to the courses they offer?

No, but the university-wise college lists may contain information regarding the fields the colleges offer.

  • What institutes are to be listed in the autonomous section?
  1. All institutes that are not listed by the UGC as universities, but as autonomous institutes
  2. Institutes which are autonomous under different ministries/departments of the Government of India
  3. Other institutes(colleges) which grant their own degrees(and not those of a university)
  4. Institutes listed at List of autonomous higher education institutes in India.

Note that any colleges which grant degrees affiliated to a university should not be included in this section, and should instead be placed in the university-wise college lists.

  • There are schools listed on the list I'm working on. What do I do with them?

Move them to List of schools in statename if present, otherwise to List of schools in India under the appropriate section.
