The following historical books contain a section for all or most villages in Suffolk:

  • The Domesday Book - 1086 with references to 1066 - summarised information from here can be found online in a nicely formatted way on the website Open Domesday. A complete translation may be found online here courtesy of the University of Hull.
  • The Suffolk Traveler by John Kirby - 1735
  • Southwold and Its Vicinity, Ancient and Modern
  • A Topographical Dictionary of England by Samuel Lewis - 1848
  • Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales by John Marius Wilson - 1870 to 1872
  • The Manors of Suffolk by Walter Arthur Copinger - 1905 to 1911 - covers the history of Suffolk villages in detail, e.g. 13 pages for Waldringfield. Please note, volumes are divided by the hundred of the relevant village.
