March 20 edit

00:43:16, 20 March 2022 review of submission by BestOfTexas edit

I have absolutly no idea why you declined this article. Since when are bands not allowed on Wiki. The article is about an up and coming Rock n Roll band from Texas. They have a webiste, and over 100k total streams on Spotify. Why is this declined? BestOfTexas (talk) 00:43, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I am a band member of Jamie's Guns. I do not need to cite how the band was formed because I am in the band. I listed our website as a source that has plenty of information about our band. I am trying to create a wiki article about us so I have no idea why you are declining this? BestOfTexas (talk) 00:47, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi BestOfTexas. Your answer lies in your own description, "up and coming". That is close to synonymous with non-notable, and Wikipedia has never allowed articles about bands that are not notable. Notability is not measured by the number of streams on Spotify. It is gauged by how much the band has been written about in independent, reliable publications, such as Rolling Stone, Paste, and The Houston Chronicle. The bulk of any article should be based on such sources, not on non-independent sources such as the band's website. Finally, any source must be previously published. An editor's personal experiences or beliefs have no place on Wikipedia. --Worldbruce (talk) 01:22, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 18:42:26, 20 March 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by TheScottish801 edit

i want to leave a draft longer than 6 months because more valuable information could come out but you might want to go on different articles and work on them then come back to the draft

TheScottish801 (talk) 18:42, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That 6 month time limit is from the last edit made. Even with that, nothing is stopping you from copy-pasting the article, markup and all, into a text file. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v a little blue Bori 20:25, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

22:34:04, 20 March 2022 review of submission by Photocher edit

Photocher (talk) 22:34, 20 March 2022 (UTC) I attempted to upload an article into my sandbox for review. That was a recommended path or wiki. On my sandbox page there was a big blue button saying "are you ready to submit an article? So I tried it. A message appeared saying I had not added references. But I have 33 references. I was not able to uploaded the article which is in Microsoft word. I am not sure how the wiki assumed I had no references. I gave the article a title and hit submit thinking the next page would allow me to upload the article. But I got a message saying it was declined because either I am too new or blocked.I have been a user since 2015 but only had a user page in March of 2022. Previously (since 2015 I have had a user name and password. I suspect some of my history is not recorded. I have read heavily on Wiki tutorials but I am still having trouble. I have worked diligently on the article and the references . But they are not in the correct wiki format. Is there anything I should do? Photocher[reply]

Hey @Photocher, it looks like you created your draft in Draft:Sandbox but submitted User:Photocher/sandbox (which is blank). In the future, please don't use the draft sandbox, as it is used by many editors and the content is replaced often. In addition, I'm not sure where the "33 sources" is coming from -- the only diff where you sourced anything is here, and there are only 2 sources there. >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 23:05, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Photocher:(edit conflict) I assume this is about User:Photocher/sandbox, if so, it doesn't appear to have any content apart from a few AfC-internal templates and a decline message. To get an article drafted in Microsoft Word onto Wikipedia, please see Help:WordToWiki. Victor Schmidt (talk) 23:06, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
