I really don't know what I'm doing, I'm just guessing. This tech stuff is way above my abilities. I am trying to post material about my father, Milton Charles. The information I posted, his bio, was created word for word by an art appraiser after his death. Their name was/is St. Lifer Fine Art, INC. They created the bio in July of 2003. Stilldreamin57 (talk) 02:54, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I fear it is not the tech stuff that was your problem. The problem was that you copied and pasted copyright material into Wikipedia. We protect copyrights fiercely, and quite rightly. You must only write articles in your own words. Fiddle Faddle 09:58, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 12:55:30, 2 November 2015 for assistance on AfC submission by Dorasteel edit

Hello - I just submitted an article called "cranial ultrasound". This was rejected (without review) because an article called "medical ultrasound" was apparently already awaiting review and there's already an article "transcranial doppler". In fact both these articles already exist on main Wikipedia - can't see one awaiting review. The "medical ultrasound" one does refer very briefly to cranial ultrasound, but I felt cranial ultrasound, which is quite a specific technique, deserved it's own piece (for example, it's usually done by paediatricians not sonographers, it is generally taught to practitioners as a distinct skill, it has its own protocols and set of disorders it's suited to). "Transcranial doppler", while technically a form of ultrasound scanning of the head, is quite a different thing. What should I do to have the article actually reviewed? Thanks. 12:55, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

Hello Sister Twister, ok my last shot: I again extended the article and added more references that I found, one from a newspaper and one from a published book. Hope that helps ? best regards

Hi, I'm trying to understand why this page "Hubbell Heaters" which is full of sources is being denied for notability when I have found many pages that lack notable sources get articles. Danguz74 (talk) 14:08, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have left you a full analysis of the sources on the draft itself in the hope that this will aid your understanding. Fiddle Faddle 14:57, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello dear reviewer! First, thank's for reviewing my article about Dorit Levinstein! I want to complete the missing references you mentioned, but I have a question I was hoping you can help me with - All the info I have about the artist was given to me by the people who represent her, getting it directly from the artist herself, meaning there isn't any website or book this specific info is taken from (incl. citations, bio etc.). She has an official website of course, but most of the info is not taken from there. What do you suggest I should do in this case? where should I refer to? Thank's again :-) Assaf.

There are no shortcuts to performing diligent research. For a living person we have a high standard of referencing. Every substantive fact you assert, especially one that is susceptible to potential challenge, requires a citation with a reference that is about them, and is independent of them, and is in WP:RS, and is significant coverage. Please also see WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources and WP:SELFPUB which has clear limitations on self published sources. Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact cited, that meet these tough criteria is likely to make this draft a clear acceptance (0.9 probability). Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the person is not suitable for inclusion, certainly today.
Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL may assist.
I note your username. Are you being paid to contribute this draft? If so you must make a full declaration under WP:PAID, Fiddle Faddle 15:11, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
In addition to Timtrent's excellent points, I would also look at WP:OR. Onel5969 TT me 15:37, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure why this entry keeps being rejected. Dr. Weed is notable in medicine for creating and developing the SOAP note (progress note) as well as the problem oriented medical record. Most healthcare professions create clinical notes based on this format.

He is mentioned on a the SOAP note page as well as the page about PROMIS, one of the first electronic medical records systems. In the field of health informatics, he is considered one of its founders.

This entry is primarily to create a stub that will be added to. I believe the 9 or so references listed should be enough for an initial entry so pages that mention him can link to this bio page.

You have the references bunched thus: "Oriented Medical Record (POMR).[1][2] [3][4] [5][6][7][8][9]He" which is not useful. Instead we need one excellent reference per fact asserted. If you are sure it is beneficial, two, and at an absolute maximum, three. A fact you assert once verified in a reliable source, is verified. More is gilding the lily. Please choose the very best in each case of multiple referencing for a single point and either drop or repurpose the remainder. If the references are each worthwhile then state the fact that each has in it and use it to cite that fact. The article as it stands is really not up to the standard of a stub. There is more work to do.
Our role as reviewers is to seek to ensure that an article will not immediately be subject to one of our deletion processes when it is accepted. That is why we push it back to the author. We want to accept articles. MY view is that this one requires more work to reach acceptance. Fiddle Faddle 18:19, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I am just confused by why my creations have been rejected. I have provided reference links from a variety of sources. What is the "Sooke Region Museum" not acceptable? I see other BC museums with listings that have significantly less references. As for "Elida Peers", once again, I have included various links. She is important to our region and the government of BC thinks she merits their top honour.

It appears that the reason my submission was declined was because it was copied from pws.cablespeed.com etc.... I am the one who posted that article while creating a simple website for my father. However, every word of it comes from a totally legitimate source: St. Lifer Fine Art Inc. Appraisers, 11 Hanover Square # 703, New York, NY 10005. This bio of my father, Milton Charles, is accurate and the result of many weeks of research on behalf of these appraisers. I, Robert Charles, posted that bio. It is a totally valid and accurate accounting of my father's career. My father was very famous in the world of illustrations for book covers in the 1970's-1990's.Stilldreamin57 (talk) 20:04, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Milton Charles, my father, is no longer alive. I have cited every sentence or paragraph of my submission from it's original source, the St. Lifer Fine Art Inc Appraisers. It is ironic that you say I can't post his bio, created by a legitimate source, when some of his students that he taught painting to, at Parson School of Design, etc.... such as Lisa Faulkenstern, has a Wiki page and she was eventually to become my father's wife.Stilldreamin57 (talk) 20:10, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Stilldreamin57: Hello, and welcome to the Help Desk. Timtrent has left you some useful comments at your draft page; have you looked at them yet? There also appears to be a referencing issue, as many of the sources seem to be from primary sources that do not demonstrate notability. Can you find reliable, independent sources that discuss the subject in significant detail? Thanks, /wia /tlk /cntrb 20:18, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Stilldreamin57: Situations like this are always difficult for loving relatives to understand. Please read the information at WP:Donating copyright material and realise, as many have had to realise before, that Wikipedia can not and will not publish material published under copyright elsewhere without a proper and formal release from the copyright owner.
Please do not get into an argument over this. We have only your assertion that the gentleman was your father. We do not know, and can not know who you are, nor whether you have the right to release this informationcopyright material to us. Further, even if you assert though our formal procedures that you have the right to licence it correctly to Wikipedia and beyond, it may not be suitable for Wikipedia.
This is not a discussion, I'm afraid. It is a set of inviolate rules.
If your father is notable in a Wikipedia sense then that has to be demonstrated and verified with references. You would not, after all, wish some random editor to write untruths about him.
I apologise that this is not the answer you wanted, but we cannot give you the answer you want. It is, however, within your power to obtain that answer by following processes.
You need to be aware of the rules under WP:COI which will apply in full measure on acceptance of an article about the gentleman. The also apply to an article about his lady wife. Fiddle Faddle 21:54, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have been unable to find an article about Lisa Faulkenstern. Perhaps you can assist by pointing us to it? Fiddle Faddle 22:12, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have left you what I hope you will see as good advice on your talk page. The route forward is far simpler than you might imagine. Fiddle Faddle 22:58, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
