Have you ever went on Wikipedia, and a source said "a year ago"? Here are the causes why.
1. They are cavemen or a novice
editSometimes that "a year ago" thing might be a year before they said it, and they might say "On the 27th of August" in the current year instead of "On the 27th of August 2023", which is more accurate, especially for people in the next year, or even 5 years past! They might copy information from say, The Onion, or a rubbish news site. They might even eat so much sweets that their writing is so rubbish!
2. They don't do enough research
editThey might just go to The Onion as we said about earlier and believe and post it, or just completely made up in their head of theirs. They might even get ChatGPT to do it for them! They could get a 5 year old on the keyboard typing made up facts! It may look like "i like pizza because ermm i dunno" instead of "Pizza is a very popular food suitable for lunch and dinner courses."
3. They are Indian
editImagine looking up Wikipedia and instead of "over 100,000 pizzas", they said "over 1 lakh of pizzas", which is only for Indian people. They might use the English Wikipedia instead of the Hindi one, clickbaiting with English titles, but with it written in Hindi! Recipe for wrong-wiki disaster!
4. They are youth hanging out on a street corner
editJust as youth commonly vandalise real life, they might vandalise Wikipedia! "Pizza is a popular food made of tomatoes, sauce, dough, and toppings" could turn "Pizza is a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious sweet" overnight! Or even blank the page for fun that lasts and lasts until the "mean" to the youth administrators come and take the vandalising away! Oh no for them, yay yay for everyone else.
5. Their computer is very old
editImagine a wiki page half written because someone's computer frozen halfway! Recipe for old Personal computer disaster!
