Anne Frank House Amsterdam edit

Original - The canal-side façade of the former Opekta building on the Prinsengracht canal. Anne Frank's hiding place was at the rear, in an enclosed courtyard.
Reason
Very good quality image of an important historic place. Appears in three key articles (with a total of over 300,000 views this month). Has been recognised as quality image on commons, however failed FPC on diverse grounds.

  • Comment: The trees cast distracting shadows on the building, may be a photo when this does not happen can be created.--Redtigerxyz Talk 12:22, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • But is the facade that important at all? I see a value in that the subject of the image is the place where Anne Frank lived (building, street, canal, trees, light), not the facade of the building alone. I find the cold winter/spring light quite fortunate. Elekhh (talk) 13:14, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
      • IMO, "A photograph has appropriate lighting to maximize visible detail" may be compromised and a better picture of the subject may be created. If it is not possible, then this picture is worth a VP status. --Redtigerxyz Talk 15:50, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
        • Note that, unlike by Featured Pictures, the most important criterias for Valued Pictures are encyclopaedic and educational value. This image has been already assessed as being of good technical quality at commons. Elekhh (talk) 10:26, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
