1 2022 FIFA World Cup   11,004,144   The World Cup continues this week, met by upsets and close wins. The group stage ended with several upsets - namely, the elimination of 2014 champions Germany (who also failed to progress to the knockouts in 2018) and world number 2, Belgium. The knockout stages have begun with Netherlands knocking out USA, and having Argentina disposing of Australia in the games played so far. This coming week (Sunday-Saturday) will see the remaining 6 round of 16 matches and the quarters being completed. So the next time you hear from us, we will know our 4 semi-finalists. Enjoy the football!
2 FIFA World Cup   3,032,398
3 Jenna Ortega   2,797,886   They're creepy and they're kooky
Mysterious and spooky
They're altogether ooky
The Addams Family.
This Netflix TV series centered on the eldest daughter of the Addams, played by Jenna Ortega (who had previously starred in other Netflix projects You and Yes Day), was released last week to moderate reception.

5 Christine McVie   2,007,559   This English musician and songwriter died this week at 79. Her work with #15 gave her greater recognition.
6 2026 FIFA World Cup   1,457,917   The results of #1 have made some curious—and potentially hopeful—for the next World Cup. Others, not so much. But 4 years is a long time, as shown by the fact the World Cup retention rate is 10% (2/20), and only happened twice, Brazil in 1958-1962 and Italy in 1934-1938.
7 Cristiano Ronaldo   1,259,895   In spite of qualifying for round 2 of #1, this Portuguese footballer left Manchester United last week, and is in more controversy this week.
8 Lionel Messi   1,247,602 Unlike #7, this Argentine footballer is enjoying the spotlight with his 1,000th career game, securing a win for Argentina against Australia in #1.
9 2018 FIFA World Cup   1,184,865   Some are looking back to the previous World Cup, held in Russia, where France was able to defeat Croatia. Croatia are yet to perform at the level they did in Russia, but France have shown themselves to be serious contenders.
10 Nick Fuentes   1,156,982   This white supremacist met with Donald Trump and Kanye West, a grim omen for the future of American politics.
11 Deaths in 2022   965,061   In homage to #5:
If your life was bad to you
Just think what tomorrow will do
12 Irene Cara   889,318   This singer, best known for the theme songs of Fame and Flashdance, died this week at 63.
13 List of FIFA World Cup finals   888,920   Brazil have won the most (5), despite appearing in one less final than Germany (who have only won 4). Interestingly, no country has won exactly three, and only European or South American teams have ever appeared in the final.
14 The Addams Family   819,048   The release of #4 has brought this fictional family into the Top 25 Report.
15 Fleetwood Mac   818,229   One of the most acclaimed bands of the 1970s and 1980s, as well as one of the most turbulent, given their best-selling album Rumours is basically the members writing songs on how their relationships were going downhill. #5's contributions to the group included "Don't Stop", "Everywhere", and "Little Lies".
16 Yusra Mardini   750,215   This Syrian swimmer received renewed attention following the release of her biopic The Swimmers on Netflix this week.

18 2022 FIFA World Cup knockout stage   719,102   The knockout stage for this year's World Cup began this week. Netherlands, Senegal, USA, England, Argentina, Poland, France, Australia, Morocco, Japan, Spain, Croatia, Brazil, Switzerland, Portugal and South Korea all made it out of their group to this stage.
19 Pelé   713,822   The "King of Football" (the only one to win #2 on three occasions) was put on end-of-life care this week, following cardiac and respiratory issues.
20 Brazil national football team   700,753 The team the above took to three titles is currently searching for its sixth. Granted, every game ends with someone injured and the reserves managed the feat of losing to Cameroon, but a favorite is still a favorite.
21 2014 FIFA World Cup   697,024   Eight years ago, Germany beat Argentina in the final (beating hosts, Brazil, 7-1 en-route). Since then, Germany have failed to progress out of the group.
22 Christian Pulisic   678,165   This soccer player suffered an injury this week, an untimely event for one of the United States men's national soccer team's best players. Pulisic was ultimately unable to advance the team, losing to the Netherlands.
23 Argentina national football team   645,894 #20's archenemy had the opposite path, starting off with a shock defeat before two close wins. Yet, they remain one of the favourites, courtesy of #8, one of the world's greatest.
24 Christina Ricci   635,622   This actress plays a botany teacher in #4, as a tribute to her having been Wednesday in The Addams Family and Addams Family Values.
25 Alexis Mac Allister   596,639   Rounding out this World Cup-themed list, this Argentine footballer helped #23 defeat Poland this week.
