The official data is still down, so through other tools we compiled a list spearheaded by a disease outbreak, and also featuring plenty of Super Bowl build-up.

3	2019–20 Wuhan coronavirus outbreak	at least 1,247,685	The Chinese city of Wuhan was struck with a new kind of pneumonia without clear cause or effective vaccines, which was discovered as originating from a new kind of coronavirus (#1). Nearly 10 thousand cases have emerged so far, mostly in China, with 213 of them fatal, and all sorts of preventive measures have ensued.
4	Patrick Mahomes	1.026.569	Still on American football, but someone alive and better regarded: in only his second season as the starter quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs (#25), Mahomes has led the team to the Super Bowl.
5	1917 (2019 film)	945.853	Everything Dunkirk should have been, a gripping war film that never becomes boring (and with its one shot gimmick, that's a feat!). Sam Mendes goes to World War I to tell the story of a soldier who goes through the trenches and wrecked cities of the Western Front to deliver a message, and is being handsomely rewarded, including 10 Academy Award nominations.
6	Sex Education (TV series)	890.450	Netflix has brought back the comedy-drama where Gillian Anderson (pictured) is the sex therapist mother of awkward teenager Asa Butterfield.
7	Conor McGregor	862.751	After over a year away from the octagon, the last time being an occasion where his posse decided to beat up the guy who defeated him, this Irish MMA fighter returned in UFC 246 and won his match in just 40 seconds.
8	Delonte West	839.979	In some sad basketball news (but not as much as the one that will lead the next report...), this retired player was beaten up in a Washington, D.C. street.
9	Martin Luther King Jr.	809.607	January 15 would've been the 81st birthday of this civil rights activist. Instead, his murder in 1968 turned the date into an American holiday.
10	Anna May Wong	736.783	Google used the 97th anniversary of The Toll of the Sea to celebrate its star, the first famous Chinese-American actress.
11	Parasite (2019 film)	707.586	No, it's not a sequel to Bong Joon-ho's monster movie The Host. Instead, Bong made a dark comedy with a social message, following a poor family as they begin to leech on a rich household - and some surprises make things go downhill. Parasite has become one of South Korea's most successful movies ever, and is a favorite to win the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film.
12	Deaths in 2020	685.032	The yearly death list got an illustrious addition in Monty Python member Terry Jones, who now reunites with Graham Chapman to make the afterlife funnier. Here's to him.

14	List of Super Bowl champions	651.097	What a relief in that the New England Patriots won't extend their lead here any further. Instead, either the San Francisco 49ers will tie them and the Pittsburgh Steelers with six trophies, or the Kansas City Chiefs will get their second title.
15	Bad Boys for Life	635.526	Will Smith and Martin Lawrence return for a third round as bickering Miami cops, and in spite of (or because...) director Michael Bay has been replaced, Bad Boys for Life got surprisingly positive reviews to go along with its opening atop the box office.
16	Murder of Odin Lloyd	614.072	Our #2 went to prison for this, as he supposedly killed this friend of his (who was dating his fiancée's sister) back in 2013.
17	UFC 246	592.653	Las Vegas hosted the latest MMA event, where the main card had a "Cowboy" defeated by a returning "Notorious" (#6).

19	Meghan, Duchess of Sussex	549.176	As the Brits prepared for January 31st's Brexit, they continued to discuss the Royal Family's Megxit.
20	Andy Reid	532.910	Super Bowl LIV will be contested between the team coached by Andy Reid (#25) and the one which has Jimmy Garopolo as its quarterback - it might be his first win on the field, given he was Tom Brady's backup in two of his titles.

22	Royal Rumble (2020)	509.952	Houston hosted this WWE pantomime, featuring male and female versions of the title fight with 30 wrestlers, won by Drew McIntyre and Charlotte Flair (pictured), respectively.
23	Severe acute respiratory syndrome	509.248	The last coronavirus (#1) outbreak to create panic was SARS back in 2002-2003 (time flies, doesn't it?), also starting in China and causing over 700 deaths.
24	Joker (2019 film)	485.839	Film awards season is featuring heavily the cross between Martin Scorsese and DC Comics.
25	Kansas City Chiefs	483.718	Absent from the Super Bowl since the fourth one, back in 1969, the team of our #4 finally got back in the NFL decision. If the city's baseball team could win it all back in 2015, the Missouri (and Kansas too, it's complicated) faithful can hope for another victory.
