It's Marvel's world, we're just living in it

Avengers: Infinity War grew its presence on the Top 25 to unseen precedents: in a domination even bigger than when Carrie Fisher and her mother died as Rogue One was in theaters, 15 entries are related to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including future characters and movies. In addition, there's even room for two lists prominently featured in the lead of Infinity War's article: its huge budget and even higher intakes. Who knows if the battle with Thanos will only be removed from the top with the arrival of another Marvel movie, only one that's not MCU - and in fact, as family-unfriendly as possible. In non-superheroic news, we have a comedian mocking Trump, a Mexican holiday, a future princess, the ongoing popularity of K-pop, two Google Doodles, the ever-present death list and the still resonating death of Avicii, given the discovery that it was self-inflicted.

2	Carol Danvers	1,591,836	The post-credits scene for Infinity War shows the emblem of this heroine, as if to say "Help me Captain Marvel, you're my only hope." Up 4 spots from last week.
3	List of Marvel Cinematic Universe films	1,579,123	19 movies that basically gave Marvel Studios a license to print money. And for those still shell-shocked by our #1, in July comes the twentieth, Ant-Man and the Wasp, whose comedic leanings will certainly make for a less traumatic experience. Up 4 spots from last week.
4	Michelle Wolf	1,339,130	From comics to a comic, the featured entertainer of the White House Correspondents' Dinner, roasting everyone along the way. Donald Trump decided not to pay his respects to those he calls "fake news" again, and in Wolf's words "I would drag him here myself, but it turns out the president of the United States is the one pussy you’re not allowed to grab."
5	Thanos	1,082,779	Unlike previous Avengers villains Loki and Ultron, Thanos is not an amusing antagonist who's fun to watch, but just downright threatening. And given how the movie ends, audiences certainly wonder how he can be stopped... Up 13 spots from last week.
6	Untitled Avengers film	997,565	...in the upcoming fourth movie. It's also the fourth Marvel flick by the Russo brothers after Infinity War and the last two Captain America ones - who knew the guys behind Community, Arrested Development and You, Me and Dupree were so good at superhero movies? Up 9 spots from last week.
7	Marvel Cinematic Universe	874,258	If this was a country, it would be the 150th largest GDP with $16 billion. Kevin Feige's (pictured) hard production work in the past decade has been paying off handsomely! Up 4 spots from last week.
8	Cinco de Mayo	865,534	Back to the real world again, namely this Mexican-American holiday that remembers the Battle of Puebla.
9	Deaths in 2018	741,126	Thanos's (#5) beloved from the comics continues its strong presence on our list. Up 1 spot from last week.
10	List of highest-grossing films	695,536	Infinity War is quickly climbing this list, having become the fastest movie to break $1 billion. Maybe it can surpass $2 billion as well, but don't expect it to threaten #1 for 9 years running Avatar - that one had both novelty and being released right before the dump months, while Infinity War will have to eventually face many blockbusters.
11	Elizabeth Olsen	644,085	The younger sister of the Olsen twins plays the Scarlet Witch in #1.
12	Captain Marvel (film)	638,605	Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck direct the upcoming introduction of Carol Danvers (#2), who producer Kevin Feige has described as "the most powerful character in the MCU", and is thus the good guys' hope of defeating Thanos (#5). Up 11 spots from last week.
13	Black Panther (film)	603,318	Well, look who's back on the list. King T'Challa (who's also in our #1) has had quite the staying power in the box office, having overtaken Star Wars: The Last Jedi as the ninth highest-grossing film ever (#10), and being still in the U.S. top 10 even as the following MCU installment arrived - only the first in the franchise, Iron Man, had done this before.
14	Avicii	564,565	The death of this Swedish DJ turned out to be even more tragic than expected: his family revealed he "wanted to find peace" after inner struggle, and sadly Avicii decided that the way to do so was to cut himself with a broken bottle. Down 12 spots from last week.
15	Josh Brolin	544,595	The portrayer of #5 in #1. And he's due to play another Marvel character this month, the mutant Cable in Deadpool 2.
16	List of most expensive films	530,274	Infinity War cost $316 million to make, enough for #3 here. Yet #1 is from Disney property, Pirates of the Caribbean (pictured), which also has all but the first movie on the list (building ships and shooting at sea costs a lot!).
17	Meghan Markle	526,145	The retirement of the future princess from acting also served as a warm-up for the upcoming royal wedding, given her character in Suits got married.
18	Brie Larson	511,971	Mrs. Larson is a stunner both in looks and acting chops, to the point she has an Academy Award for Room. And now she's the MCU's greatest hope as Captain Marvel (#2) in her upcoming film (#12) - which is also Larson's second big budget action movie with Samuel L. Jackson, given last year both were in Kong: Skull Island (which had a third Marvel actor, Tom Hiddleston).
19	Carl Friedrich Gauss	508,314	Google reminded the 241st birthday of this German mathematician, so influential there's a whole article of things named after him.
20	The Avengers (2012 film)	477,938	The success of the latest Avengers (#1) brings attention to the first MCU team-up. Much simpler times: no need to watch 18 movies to properly understand, only six heroes (seven if you count Nick Fury), the stakes are for Earth alone, and the only death was a secondary character.
21	George Méliès	476,788	Google's first 360° Doodle is an homage to this French filmmaker, whose famous A Trip to the Moon is a direct predecessor to the special effects spectacles such as our #1.
22	Exo (band)	464,949	And the last entry not related to Marvel is this K-pop group that continues to be quite popular in our wiki. Down 3 spots from last week.
23	Adam Warlock	443,292	The comic that #1 mostly adapts had Thanos (#5) defeated by this artificially created human. That will not be the case in the movies, as Warlock so far was only alluded in a post-credits scene of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and is bound to appear in the sequel to that.
24	Tom Holland (actor)	440,787	The young British actor who portrays Spider-Man in the MCU has one of the most impactful lines of Infinity War, that is already becoming a meme: “Mr. Stark, I don’t feel so good...”
25	Chris Hemsworth	435,904	And of course Marvel finishes off the list, with the God of Thunder from Down Under, I mean, the Australian portrayer of The Mighty Thor.
