Template:Downlink selected page edit

The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposed deletion of the template(s) or module(s) below. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the template's talk page or in a deletion review).

The result of the discussion was delete. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 13:59, 16 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Similar to the two discussions below this banner contributes to banner blindness while contributing very little other than advertising the newsletter. To see the problem in action you can look at basically any page where this template is used such as Talk:International Space Station where there are ten other banners that are more important than this one. --Trialpears (talk) 00:59, 5 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Merge to {{WikiProject Spaceflight}}. If it was selected for a WPSPACEFLIGHT Downlink selection, then it must be a page under the purview of WPSPACEFLIGHT, thus can be indicated on its banner. -- 64.229.90.199 (talk) 05:54, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure merging is possible with how {{WPBannerMeta}} works. Gonnym (talk) 10:27, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This isn't too far from an editathon being captured in a WikiProject's banner. I know a few such examples exist out there. Izno (talk) 00:05, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Delete as it has little use. KingAviationKid (talk) 17:28, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete; while I above comment that this could be merged to a WikiProject, I don't personally find the necessity for what is a pretty small circulation WikiProject newsletter. Izno (talk) 00:06, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No transclusions, documentation, or template parameters. One link from a 2009 discussion where this template was proposed for use, but it does not appear to have been adopted. {{WikiProject Proposal}} appears to be substable, per its documentation and recent use. – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:49, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment it's a preload template, so should never be transcluded, and never have template parameters. -- 64.229.90.199 (talk) 21:06, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • Delete per nom, as it dumps a subst statement into the project proposal page, instead of a skeleton, as what one would expect from a preload template. -- 64.229.90.199 (talk) 21:12, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
      • UPDATE Keep per CXZoom, as it is used by a WikiProject Council wizard for creating proposals for new WikiProjects. However, I don't think it's a very good preload, as it should load a skeleton instead of a subst statement, considering that the output of the subst is a skeleton with sample entries. I suggest, that now that Wikipedia's MediaWiki has been updated to be able to handle ororcessing NOINCLUDE sections for preloads (before they were just dumped as part of the preload) that documentation should be added to be preload to indicate what wizard it is being used with. -- 64.229.90.199 (talk) 06:34, 11 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete fine by me, can't remember what I was trying to do/fix with this, but it looks like some temporary stuff that I didn't quite setup correctly so totally fine to delete this. -Optigan13 (talk) 16:37, 6 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep (will modify it by adding parameters): This is a ubstituted preload template called from Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals#Creating a proposal to assist editors to propose new projects. CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • {CX}) 10:03, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Given that this is used as a preload for a specific WikiProject, I would suggest keep and move to that WikiProject's space. Izno (talk) 00:07, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • If this is actually used and {{WikiProject Proposal}} can't be used directly instead, I agree with Izno that this template (and possibly both of them) should be moved to a subpage of the WikiProject that uses it. – Jonesey95 (talk) 21:23, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was merge to Template:Bakhmut Raion. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 15:35, 19 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Propose merging Template:Bakhmut municipality with Template:Bakhmut Raion.
I think these are covering literally the exact same scope (Bakhmut Raion), just under different names. The "municipality" one just has much less stuff in it, so it should be merged/redirected to the "Raion" one. HappyWith (talk) 16:33, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The Municipality template was actually for settlements that were subordinate to the Artemivsk (now Bakhmut) City Council. Since the template was created though, it seems that these settlements are no longer subordinate to the Council. Here is the UK Wikipedia article about the council from 2014, from around the time the Municipality template was created Артемівська міська рада (9.8.2014) Physeters 20:55, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Municipality does not exist anymore, it was abolished in 2020 during the administrative reform. Bakhmut Raion was a different thing before 2020, but it was significantly expanded and now includes not only former Bakhmut Municipality, but also a bunch of other raions and municipalities, which should be now merged into the current template.--Ymblanter (talk) 08:32, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Exact duplicate of Template:Death date and age. Replace usages and delete template. Oppose leaving it as a redirect. Gonnym (talk) 12:13, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Also it seems that the actual correct template that should be used is {{End date and age}} as this adds incorrect terminology to non-living entities. Gonnym (talk) 12:30, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion criteria F10 has just been removed and the related templates should probably be deleted as have been done for previously removed speedy deletion templates. --Trialpears (talk) 06:47, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

For the sake of transparency: I've removed support for F10 in a whole bunch of other templates dealing with multiple criteria. --Trialpears (talk) 07:46, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
