The result of the discussion was delete after replacement with {{infobox television crossover episode}}. — JJMC89(T·C) 05:21, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Created by myself in 2016, but this template is now effectively redundant to {{Infobox television crossover episode}}. They provide exactly the same information, as seen in this conversion (old format, new format). Generic templates should always be used when available; forks that show identical information are unnecessary. I've made this a deletion discussion rather than a merge, because there's nothing to merge; all the same information is available between the two templates. -- /Alex/21 22:25, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete The nominator says it best. It is redundant and serves no purpose on the wiki. Also, couldn't this qualify for G7? AmericanAir88(talk) 23:00, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No, as there has been opposition to the conversion of the Arrowverse to generic template (revert, revert), and further discussion at Talk:Arrowverse#Crossover infoboxes, so I decided to take it to a wider venue for discussion. -- /Alex/21 23:19, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ah I see. Still sticking with deletion vote as generics are the way to go. AmericanAir88(talk) 23:48, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - biased, as I'm the creator of the other template. I believe that having episode sections is much cleaner and easier to read and understand rather then having it ordered by fields. --Gonnym (talk) 08:34, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. The separation of each series' episodes makes the information easier to follow, plus a generic infobox is adaptable to multiple uses across different franchises. – Nick Mitchell 98 talk 12:08, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete I just responded on the Arrowverse talk, but I've come around to the switch. However, to help with what some of my opposition was, I think the generic crossover infobox should include "overall" fields. These would be for say a director, writer (with writer, story, and teleplay templates), or air date, was the same for the entire crossover. Then those "overall" fields would be used instead of the ones individually for each episode/part. See my edits to Template:Infobox television crossover episode/sandbox and what that looks like at Template:Infobox television crossover episode/testcases. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 17:16, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Favre1fan93: looking at the Arrowverse crossovers, it seems that only the |story= writers of Flash vs. Arrow and Crisis on Earth-X are actually shared. How would this style work for Heroes Join Forces where Greg Berlanti is the only shared story-credited writer, while both Flash and Arrow have another non-shared story writer? Seems in this situation, using the shared credit will cause more confusion then repeating the same name again. --Gonnym (talk) 08:46, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
      • @Gonnym: I was feeling that in any instance where perhaps one person wrote the whole thing along with other writers on specific episodes, like with Heroes Join Forces, the individual episodes should have all credits. In instances like Crisis on Earth-X where you have 2 writers working on all episodes, then they would go in the "overall" field, and each episode info would use their respective teleplay fields. I'm also realizing now that I pulled a bad example in the test cases. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 15:36, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
        • OK, that explanation makes much more sense and I support that change. --Gonnym (talk) 17:44, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
          • Thanks. And I also figure these overall fields will be useful in the future. Because one of these days, some series (not necessarily the Arrowverse) will make something akin to a feature film and have for example one director do all the episodes. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 02:49, 26 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete with Favre1fan93's changes added to {{Infobox television crossover episode}}. - Brojam (talk) 18:39, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

{{US-railway-routemap}} does this template's job with more features. No need to have a completely separate template. – Daybeers (talk) 03:41, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
