The band's navigational template consists of one link: the band's article. The band has no notable releases, the template navigates nowhere and WP:NENAN. Aspects (talk) 23:19, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The band's navigational template consists of two links: the band's article and an album. The two articles already connect to each other, there are not enough articles to justify having a template and WP:NENAN. Aspects (talk) 23:16, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Comment, no problem, but it sounds a bit confusing. The template is being removed as a separate article and replaced with another table integrated within its parent article. Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 16:14, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Infobox short story edit

The result of the discussion was Withdraw. (non-admin closure) --Trialpears (talk) 16:01, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Propose merging Template:Infobox short story with Template:Infobox book.
Only two fields not in Infobox book:

  • published_in: what the story was first released in, e.g. the name of the anthology, magazine, etc)
  • publication_type:how the story was first released, e.g. anthology, periodical, etc

These could easily be added to infobox book and then Infobox short story redirected. --Trialpears (talk) 09:59, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose: Good idea, but these infoboxes format the titles of the works differently: book titles are italic (and so the infobox automatically makes the article title italic as well as the title at the top of the infobox), while short story names are enclosed in quotation marks. This also affects the default formatting of the 'preceded/followed by' fields. It would be possible to add another parameter to define whether the work was a book or short story, and use that to change the formatting, but this would a) be less easy for an editor to see at a glance what format it was than at present, making mistakes much more likely, and b) take a huge number of edits to do. It would be possible to make them both wrapper templates if ease of maintenance is an issue here, but the downsides outweigh any positives. Also short stories aren't books, so you might need a more general name for the merged template (literary work, etc.), but this would almost certainly be a lot less concise. ‑‑YodinT 14:43, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yodin, I feel like a   Self-trout is in place here. I forgot checking if there had been any old TfDs and now disagree with my own proposal. I'll withdraw this shortly. --Trialpears (talk) 15:13, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The band's navigational template consists of seven links: the band's, one band member article, another band member that redirects to another band and four band links that should not be in the template. The band has no notable releases and the two links articles are already linked together so a navigational template is not necessary and WP:NENAN. Aspects (talk) 04:03, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Defunct sports franchise. ...William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 10:39, 24 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Some defunct franchises, like Carolina Diamonds include their final roster. Would it be preferable to just include the final roster on the page, instead of as a template? There's no shortage of templates.

Jjwyatt (talk) 08:03, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Convert to list of players Active rooster would be inappropriate if they aren't playing, but creating a list of players based on this template and it's history would be appropriate. --Trialpears (talk) 09:45, 29 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
