Template:Chicago City Council since 1923 edit

I know there is a bit of work being done at John Wolfon's sandbox but from an attribution standpoint this page should be deleted and the template itself kept. At Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Politics#City_council_template, newish editor John M Wolfson and I have been hashing out how to handle, the overlap caused by creating {{Chicago City Council since 1923}} in September 2018 although {{Chicago City Council}} has existed since 2007. The older template is for only current Chicago City Council biography articles, while the newer one includes the names of all councilmembers since 1923, which is the year the city council changed from 35 districts with 2 reps to the current format of 50 districts with 1 rep. I questioned the need and demand for the new template given that more important legislative bodies have met with resistance. Specifically, I have met with resistance for the User:TonyTheTiger/ILRepresentatives template and there does not seem to be interest in getting all of our house templates in order at Category:United States House of Representatives delegations navigational boxes. Since House of rep templates are controversial, I call a city council template into question. I am not really saying it should be merged or deleted, but I am calling for a clarification on the desirability of legislative templates with a complete historical listing. In this case it is important to note that unlike congressmen, the majority of historical councilmen do not even have articles.TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 21:46, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I support keeping both this and the IL Rep template for essentially the reasons given in the discussion. I also raised the possibility of turning the contents of {{Chicago City Council since 1923}} into a list article, although that would remove some of the navigational advantages of the template.   • I see some support for a list article. I'd be fine with it, but it would take some time to make (then again, the template took about 2-3 days). I'll be away on a camping trip this weekend so I won't be able to do anything then, but I did start a sort of mockup of the thing at User:John M Wolfson/List of Chicago aldermen since 1923. For anybody interested in helping out this is useful for dates and the full names of aldermen are commented in the template.
