Now that the Bounty Board is inactive and there are therefore no more open bounties, this template should no longer be used as it will confuse people into thinking, incorrectly, that they can still claim bounties there. Jinkinson talk to me 22:57, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

All redundant to {{Infobox basketball club}} (Transclusion count: 988) Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 21:47, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep the NBA and the NBADL templates, delete the rest. Jhenny38 (Starters talk, My contributions) 09:27, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • Please explain why you think we need to keep two three templates, and not merge them into one. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 20:48, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
      • Because if you use the Basketball club template, it would include the sponsor= (Main sponsor) tag, which the NBA does not have on their jerseys (but the NBA Development League does on their jerseys). And when you enter a team name (ex: Los Angeles Lakers) on the NBA template, it will show the color syntax, while entering a non-NBA name which include defunct NBA teams like the Vancouver Grizzlies will not give the color syntax (the NBADL template does not have these but there are color1= and color2=, found in the Basketball Club template). The NBADL template in another hand would mostly feature the affilations or the affiliations= tag which does not appear on the Basketball Club template, as it is a recruit to another team when it's the NBA Draft night or the player is ready to go to a NBA team. The rest of these would merge on the Basketball Club template because it is identical to the basketball club template. That's why I am still keeping the NBA and the NBADL templates and delete and merge the rest into the Basketball Club template. Jhenny38 (Starters talk, My contributions) 14:14, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
        • The |sponsor= parameter in {{Infobox basketball club}} is optional, so would not display in such cases. The color facility, if necessary, could be included in the generic template, for NBA teams; as could the |affiliations= parameter for cases where it is needed. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 14:25, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all per nom, while merging important parameters (if any) to Infobox basketball club.--eh bien mon prince (talk) 03:35, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep at least the NBA and NBADL, per Jhenny38. Considering different parameters, I don't think they are redundant templates and are well designed, so I don't think there is anything to gain by deleting them. mikeman67 (talk) 00:39, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all and add parameters like retired numbers, affiliations, conference titles to the Infobox basketball club template. --Harryhurry (talk) 14:15, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Largest cities of India (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

This template includes a citation, and as such is required to go above any <references /> or {{Reflist}} section. This template is also what is considered a navigational box which is required to sit at the very bottom of articles below any <references /> or {{Reflist}} section. As such, this is a contradiction in of itself and any placement of this template will require consensus.

  • Is there consensus to allow this NAVBOX to go into the context of the article?
  • Should (can) the included citation be removed or otherwise presented so that this NAVBOX does not need to go into the context of the article?
  • Should all of the navigational properties of the template be removed so that it is no longer a NAVBOX?
  • Should this NAVBOX simply be deleted?

What ever the results of this Template for Discussion are, they should be noted in the documentation for the template (and possibly the {{Largest cities}} meta template). Thank you. — {{U|Technical 13}} (tec) 15:17, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment There is the option to use a second invocation of reflist below (or within) the navbox. I'm not sure if we'd want that though. Jackmcbarn (talk) 17:07, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • I don't think this is a navbox. It is more like a mid-article infobox template using the navbox template as a master. None of the templates in Category:Largest cities of Asia templates appear to be used on the city articles they link too. This information could be better displayed than in this current unorthodox usage. SFB 21:41, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment I think the questions should be raised on the talkpage of the template (maybe via RfC) and notified at WP:INDIA. Then depending on the outcome of that discussion, it might need to come back here for deletion. For the record, I've seen several of these largest city templates for various countries and I think that the top 20 or 30 is the norm for these. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 09:49, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: I have edited the template to remove the "reference" and simply add a link there itself. The reference doesn't have to be placed at the bottom of box as we do in traditional manner. Nevertheless, the template has only one transclusion at Demographics_of_India and that could still be a reason for deletion and merging it as text within the article, if no other venues can be imagined. I don't think its meant to be transcluded at the bottom of these 20 articles. But if all over here think it should be, i have no objections. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 11:43, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • There was an edit request on a semi-protected page to add this template which I declined as "nfn" pending this discussion. I'm sure that it "could" be used on most of the places listed in it, I just wanted to get a feel for if it should be. — {{U|Technical 13}} (tec) 12:05, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • Keep I have corrected the reference along the lines of Template:Largest cities in Turkey. Only the template page will now show the references in a list. All pages where the template is transcluded will NOT show the reference list. The Banner talk 12:10, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • If the reference will not show, then we are back to the original problem here. Perhaps since Template:Largest cities in Turkey has this same problem, this discussion should be moved to a different venue like VPR? — {{U|Technical 13}} (tec) 12:43, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that this venue is inadequate. Every template in Category:City population templates would have this problem. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 14:22, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I had the idea that you wanted to delete the template because of the wrong reference! But it is just your confusion about what the template is and some questions. To be quick: this is not a navigation template but a "largest cities of ..."-template for use in an article, not necessarily at the bottom. The Banner talk 14:42, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Nope. I'll work up an RfC on VPR in a moment and link that discussion here and close this discussion at that time. — {{U|Technical 13}} (tec) 14:52, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
