Template:DallasMap (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

I replaced this template (and its subtemplates) sometime ago with {{Downtown Dallas labelled map}} and {{West Dallas labelled map}}. contrary to the name, DallasMap is generally redundant to the {{image label begin}}/{{image label}}/{{image label end}} system. to preserve attribution for the actual maps, we should history merge {{DallasMap/downtown}} with {{Downtown Dallas labelled map}} and {{DallasMap/westdallas}} with {{West Dallas labelled map}}. Template:Refrences (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

Unused template that was created by an editor who apparently was unfamiliar with how to reference properly. Apparently created for use in William Northrop instead of using {{reflist}}.[1][2][3] Also nominated, for the same reason, are:

Template:Refrences1 (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
Template:Refrences2 (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

  • delete or redirect. Frietjes (talk) 15:00, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy delete all as T3. Jackmcbarn (talk) 17:31, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. The creator was apparently a computer programmer, who believes a reference list can be treated like a subroutine call. 99.247.1.157 (talk) 17:44, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy delete all; these are implausible redirects. I will later tag them as test pages. Eyesnore (pc) 02:30, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Gconvert (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

Unless I am loosing something, this is not used anymore and convert has been improved over the years making this template useless. Magioladitis (talk) 07:07, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Old wikicode template not needed any more since {convert} is in Lua. Then, by its internal comments, this template was used for diagnosis only. -DePiep (talk) 10:51, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • This wasn't necessary in the first place. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) (talk) 11:08, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Now-unnecessary fork. Jackmcbarn (talk) 12:23, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • delete, now completely unnecessary. Frietjes (talk) 14:59, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment it would be useful if the non-LUA convert set could be archived somewhere (such as say... something like GITHUB, SOURCEFORGE, etc; or Wikia's Templates.wikia) -- 65.94.77.36 (talk) 05:27, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • This isn't the non-Lua convert set. This is a fork of it. The non-Lua convert set is archived in its own history. Jackmcbarn (talk) 11:19, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
      • Which will be restricted to administrators when they end up being deleted in favor of LUA (a logical thing to do, since we are moving to LUA for complex templates) Lodging these things elsewhere will help wiki writers who use MediaWiki but not LUA, when Wikipedia maintenance ends up with their deletion (yes, wikipedia is not a howto, but it is helpful to the wikis in the world to have wikipedia as a internal coding reference). -- 65.94.77.36 (talk) 05:42, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • {convert} already uses Lua. No need to delete the old code. Actually, old code template is available through {{convert/nonlua}} and {{convert/old}} (unchanged and updated tempalte respectively). What you mean, @65, is that the code is (to be) deprecated. That does not imply deletion, code is still available. Anyway, this template is not part of that code as Jackmcbarn describes. Keeping the other templates is not part of this TfD. -DePiep (talk) 07:29, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Keep – needed in preview of old revisions. Christian75 (talk) 14:10, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure that's a good enough reason for keeping. If it was, we would never delete any template. There are thousands of old revisions that now contain "errors" because templates have been deleted. --AussieLegend () 17:39, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
And what "old revisions" do you mean to check? How do you check a 2011 situation? -DePiep (talk) 21:40, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
if you are really concerned with viewing old revisions, then redirect it to {{convert}} after it has been deleted. Frietjes (talk) 13:34, 21 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
