Template:Bookmarks (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

unused; not obvious what the purpose was. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) (talk) 11:26, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hello, I created this template for the self-explantary purpose of the keeping several pages under one place serving as Quicklinks or Bookmarks whatever you call. Last year when I was working on several articles simultaneously, I found it a little difficult to maintain and track a number of articles pages. Hence i created this template to add all those linked article pages. The template can be very useful to every editor out here if made well aware of it which I failed to publish and present. Request you to please do not delete the template as I'm using this and if it does not meet any Wiki policy, kindly let me know the way around to keep it. To see how it works, please have a look here (under Quicklinks, expand it) and click on [show] link on the template. ...Msrag talk2me 12:43, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, so it's intended to be preloaded? That explains the usage, at least. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) (talk) 15:14, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Userfy. General intent is not clear, but there is one user of it. --Izno (talk) 16:38, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • userfy Frietjes (talk) 17:38, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Move - Template:MyBookmarks/preload seems like a better name, as they should probably be kept together. Template:MyBookmarks can then be edited to use {{NAMESPACE}}:{{PAGENAME}}/preload as the new name, in case these templates are later moved. (If this is changed to consider all MyBookmarks templates, I'm currently undecided.) PC-XT (talk) 06:41, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Template:User label (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
(and all others under Special:PrefixIndex/template:user label)

This is the mainstay of Wikipedia:Keep It Simple, a {{userbox}} offshot started in 2007 and never picked up by, well, anybody. At present, there are 167 templates in this pseudo-namespace, most of which are completely unused. The highest transclusion count I've seen for any so far is two. This hasn't been picked up by the community, and it's basically just a time sink now. Those (very) few active editors who have transcluded instances of it can have it substituted onto their pages. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) (talk) 10:51, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - I'm puzzled on how precisely this template keeps things simple. Users of the template need to add nearly as much information to their pages as they would by using manual means, the rest being styling...! Truly simple uses the basic wikimarkup. --Izno (talk) 16:45, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Abstain - I have no strong feelings on the subject. By abstaining, I mean to support the majority with the following comments: I've made some templates for KIS, myself. I like the boxes, but don't need this template to make them, and in fact, doing it by hand would allow more creative expression. The templates are only shorthand. KIS helped me learn templates, but there are plenty of better ways to learn. I've felt weird putting them in the userbox pseudo-namespace: Template_talk:User_label_editcount I might move some of the ones I made to my userspace, and maybe save the "trays" and things there, too. Most of the Wikipedians who use these seem to be at least somewhat inactive. I won't speak for them, but I don't mind the suggested substitution, and would be willing to help "clean up," if that's what happens.
Notes: One of the templates in Special:PrefixIndex/template:user label is actually an unrelated userbox, Template:User_labels, and there is also a category, Category:Keep_It_Simple_templates, with 188 pages including barnstars and things.
Questions: Would there be a problem with me moving some of the templates I would like to save, mostly ones made by me, to my userspace before they are deleted, if that's the verdict? I might move "mine" now, just to avoid keeping other people waiting. The resulting redirects could then be deleted if that's the verdict. Also, if I would be of help in compiling a list of KIS pages for deletion or something, I'll watch this page, or feel free to talk to me: PC-XT (talk) 05:49, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I would support moving all of them to userspace per WP:UM, then continue this discussion at WP:MFD if there is still a compelling desire to delete them. Frietjes (talk) 23:02, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I guess I will start moving, then? My plans are being developed at User:PC-XT/KIS. Feel free to comment on the talk page, or in the page itself if more convenient. I will try to have them moved in the next few days so the original templates/redirects can be easily deleted soon after. PC-XT (talk) 09:31, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think the Special:PrefixIndex/template:user label templates are ready to delete after substitution, now. The only labels I'm still questioning are the WikiProject ones, but I posted on the talk pages of any that still had them offered. The userbox I mentioned above says it's a test, so it can probably be deleted the same way. I already requested some of them speedydeleted (db-g6 and db-g7) to get them out of the way. If I can help, let me know, though I expect the powers that be can handle it. ;) PC-XT (talk) 14:56, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Template:BNTL (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

This sidebar is a duplicate of Template:Cross-dressing. The only article that lists BNTL as included (though the sidebar itself does not appear in the article and the template syntax is not anywhere I can find in the text when I edit the article) is Cross-dressing, gender identity, and sexuality of Joan of Arc. In other words, BNTL is only linked to by the Joan of Arc article, but it only appears there in edit mode and only in the list under View templates on this page. Thanks! Geekdiva (talk) 06:33, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think any other articles were affected, since Template:CrossdressingFooter is also only used by that one article; others use a sidebar template. PC-XT (talk) 08:04, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
