Template:Seals family (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

Template creep. Most of this is overlapped by the individual templates for Johnny Duncan, Dan Seals, Brady Seals, and Seals & Crofts, and the articles not contained in any of those (Lisa Stewart and her album) are not sufficient to warrant separation. Keep - In paraphrased words of TPH, the following articles are not sufficient to warrant their VERY OWN navboxes: "Troy Seals", "Lisa Stewart" and "Lisa Stewart (album)", which is why a navbox may be warranted here. Additionally, many of the articles included in the template do not link to one another without the navbox, including "Dan Seals discography" from "England Dan & John Ford Coley", "Troy Seals" & "Sweet Dreams (Don Gibson song)" to "Don't Touch Me", "Lisa Stewart" and "Lisa Stewart (album)", as well as "Don't Touch Me", "Lisa Stewart" and "Lisa Stewart (album)" to "Troy Seals" & "Sweet Dreams (Don Gibson song)". --Jax 0677 (talk) 15:45, 3 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  1. It is interesting to note that no notification was placed on my talk page regarding this template being nominated for TfD. Would anyone like to explain why?
  2. The navbox was designed to link the family members together as a whole, in a manner similar to Template:Bach family, whose relationships may indeed be tangential.
  3. I never said that Dan Seals discography would need to link to Lisa Stewart (album). Some of the links in many navboxes are tangential to one another.
  4. Please let me know where the five links related to Lisa and Troy will go.

  • Article-ify & weak Delete there's no main article. So convert the template into an article. WP:NENAN , there's no need for a "Seals family" template, though some people may feel that each person should get a nav template, so a unified template may be better that separate ones, but then again, do each of these people need a template? -- 65.92.180.137 (talk) 23:13, 3 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • The people in question are notable and prolific enough for their own templates, but their careers have remained disparate enough that each individual's template doesn't over lap with the other's — they just all overlap with the Seals Family template. • Reply - Again TPH, Please let me know where the links related to Lisa and Troy will go. --Jax 0677 (talk) 02:59, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Nowhere. Not everything absolutely must be on a navbox. Troy doesn't have enough solo work, as songwriters rarely get navboxen of their own, and Lisa only ever did one album. Lisa is only related by marriage, so she doesn't need anymore links from Brady Seals than she already has, and she especially doesn't need anymore links to the rest of the Seals family, to whom she is only tangentially related at best. • delete, this sort of thing is better covered by an article if notable. Frietjes (talk) 16:44, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - If an article about the Seals family is created, then that is more reason for a template to exist. If an article for the Seals family is not in order, why (besides WP:OSE) do articles for the Krupp and Bach families exist? --Jax 0677 (talk) 04:28, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Because there don't seem to be any sources discussing the family as a whole, just its individual members. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 18:07, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • delete why a template when there is not even a main article to link from? The Banner talk 22:34, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
