Template:Catalan grammar (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

Only 2 links, can just go in {{Catalan/Valencian cultural domain}}. — Lfdder (talk) 23:35, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Make it like Spanish and it overlaps with Catalan/Valencian cultural domain. A sidebar with only the two links still is ridiculous. — Lfdder (talk) 09:18, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Erm... So what should we do? {{Catalan/Valencian cultural domain}} is more about culture, etc. A separate template for the language should be created. Do I create Template:Catalan analogous to Template:Spanish and then we delete Template:Catalan grammar? (anyway, it now has 3 links)--Fauban 09:25, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think it would be easier to make the changes to Catalan grammar and then just move it to {{Catalan language}}. I'm just worried it'll overlap with {{Catalan/Valencian cultural domain}} almost entirely (apart from the 3 extra links). — Lfdder (talk) 09:39, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I'm going to edit Template:Catalan grammar. I think {{Catalan/Valencian cultural domain}} is too all-encompassing. It should be simplified. I'll clean it up too. Thanks!--Fauban 09:47, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Three creators. The "main guest role appearances" are articles that should not have this template on them, as Epic Rap Battles is not what they are mainly known for. And it definitely shouldn't be on the articles of any of the historical figures used. So take that away, and this only links three articles. May the best template win! (not sure which one that is)
What needs to be added/removed/modified so we can go to one template? Multichill (talk) 14:23, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
"HS" does not currently support listing category; HB does (I think). Andrew Gray (talk) 19:19, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
...that said, HS is better featured - integral notes etc - and as has been pointed out to me we don't actually need to support listing category in most cases (we're using lists of A per area, B per area, etc). Support for commonscat in HS would be nice.
I've started converting over the A lists in Scotland and have been using the HS form. Happy for someone to merge back to the other if needed, but tempted to say check HS supports all fields in HB and then simply redirect. Andrew Gray (talk) 21:06, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've started work on merging these; it should be finished tonight. HB will redirect to HS with some trickery to make it all work. Andrew Gray (talk) 18:00, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposed deletion of the template below. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the template's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the discussion was no consensus to delete. While there is no express consensus to keep, the consensus is that the Template:Cardiff listed building row is not redundant. There's no reason to relist the discussion. There was no assertion that the template is WP:TFD#REASONS redundant to a better-designed template. As of this close, Template:Cardiff listed building row is only being used in the Listed buildings in Cardiff article. -- Jreferee (talk) 10:53, 13 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: {{Cadw listed building row}} doesn't have a date of completion parameter (unlike {{EH listed building row}}). Could one be added? Ham 10:37, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment neither does the Cadw template have anywhere to list a source. There's a tendency by the WLM project to bulldoze through their own (unsourced) Listed buildings in... articles, templates and tables despite articles already existing (as in the case of Listed buildings in Cardiff). The table used in Listed buildings in Cardiff was based on (and adapted from) similar tables used for English cities. Maybe WLM should base their Cadw templates on ones that have already been developed! Sionk (talk) 23:21, 23 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • From my hazy recollection, I adapted something like the table on the Listed buildings in Nantwich page. This also included the colour coded column, which is fairly standard across the other English list articles (I see WLM have also removed this from Listed buildings in Cardiff). I can understand the benefits of some sort of standardisation, though it seems innappropriate when it's driven by the needs of a photography competition! Sionk (talk) 13:04, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
In case you are not aware, the competition itself is driven by the need to improve Wikipedia and its sister projects: see http://www.wikilovesmonuments.org.uk/?p=68. --MichaelMaggs (talk) 13:46, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You say you want to get more people involved with Wikipedia by uploading photos. Uploading photos is only one part of the project.
On the subject of the template, I think I'm saying I'd strongly oppose the standard, unsourced Cadw template (with excessive info about Cadw) being imposed on the Listed buildings in Cardiff article. For example, if people want to know Cadw listing codes or the full date of listing they can presumably visit the Cadw website. From the perspective of someone using Wikipedia for reference, we need to provide pertinent info about the listed buildings and a source to allow people to research further if need be. Sionk (talk) 14:12, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think I've figured out a way around this; I'm going to rewrite them to use the same backend template code but keep the current display style for Cardiff. This will mean the database picks them up but won't affect the way the lists look. Rewriting the CADW template to be closer in what it shows to the Cardiff one may be a good idea as well. Andrew Gray (talk) 20:32, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Working on this; some success but nested templates in tables inside conditionals are tricky. Probably be a day or two. Andrew Gray (talk) 21:39, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
