  • Comment. Not quite. {{flag}} does not automatically produce a Bavarian flag icon, whereas this does. However, if we could somehow redirect this to "flagicon|Bavaria" that would be better, I agree. But I don't know how to do that. BTW the point of having this is to speed up translations of German articles that come across with this template. In slower time, editors can change the template to the usual one, which is why this is currently unused. --Bermicourt (talk) 10:37, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment (from nominator): In light of Bermicourt's explanation, I'm happy for the template to be kept, but I suggest the template documentation be updated to explain how it is used, to minimise the likelihood of it being nominated for deletion again in the future.   • Delete Naming flag templates after ISO codes is confusing enough for nations (e.g. {{flag|Algeria}} is far superior to {{DZA}}, producing identical results) but even worse for subnational entities. Far fewer editors will know that DE-BY will produce the flag of Bavaria, compared to editors who see {{flag|Bavaria}} in Wiki markup. Template usage should be "self-documenting", and using codes instead of plain names is contrary to that goal. — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 20:23, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Propose merging Template:Gamelan with Template:Gamelan instruments and Template:Gendhing.
As Template:Gamelan incorporates the information from both Template:Gamelan instruments and Template:Gendhing and one template could be applied to all gamelan pages. Hyacinth (talk) 08:36, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment. It certainly is redundant as it is. My only concern would be that, as they are, the instruments and gendhing templates are based on the Central Javanese style; whereas the top of the gamelan is clearly trying to cover all the gamelan styles. I'm not sure the same typologies (instruments categorized by function, gendhing structures by relationship with wayang) would be meaningful for other styles. But I suppose a possibility is to have those sections specifically marked Central Javanese and create other sections for the instruments and structures for other regional styles? Oppose - yes templates can be too large! Asia project templates are not only large but to the point of being a problem - separate gamelan templates however small are much more flexible readable and user friendly SatuSuro 02:29, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not exactly sure that I'm in the right place for this, since this is a redirect. However, editors at WP:NCGN have directed me to propose deletion here, and I found a previous discussion at WP:RFD that seems to imply the same. This is an unacademic use of a proper name. The Federated States of Micronesia doesn't have a short-form name, and the name "Micronesia" of course primarily refers to the region. This redirect should be deleted, since it fosters colloquial usage in an encyclopaedic context. Rennell435 (talk) 16:49, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes there's still a bit of cleaning up to be done before deletion can take place. I'd offer assistance, but my time is quite limited these days. I don't know about "FS Micronesia"...
