Template:2011–12 New York Knicks season game log (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

Wikipedia is not a newssite! Fails on WP:NOT It is more fancrust then useful information Night of the Big Wind talk 22:56, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep; This template, like the ones for other teams that run back years, clearly are not emulating a "news site." The information, taken as a whole, does provide encyclopedic information, and is an integral part of the content for 2011–12 New York Knicks season. NYCRuss 23:17, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'd like to also point out that this type of template is used in four good articles:
1973–74 Buffalo Braves season
1974–75 Buffalo Braves season
1975–76 Buffalo Braves season
2006–07 Toronto Raptors season NYCRuss 23:28, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Completely different type of template. The template used on those articles is a generic template that just creates the table. Template:NBA game log start. The information in the game log is then put in as parameters. The one up for deletion is just all the information on the template itself. The use in the good articles is a good one, the use in this template is not. -DJSasso (talk) 20:03, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at it more closely, you're right. I was very concerned that this nomination was focused on deleting the information, not just the template. Substitute and delete seems fine, but we'll also have to do this for a lot of similar templates, which are scattered throughout this category. NYCRuss 13:36, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yup already have started. :) -DJSasso (talk) 14:08, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Just FYI, all the templates can be found in Category:National Basketball Association game log templates and the related TfD on the rest of the templates is here. — MT (talk) 15:19, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Subst and delete - I agree the game log is useful (most NBA and NHL season articles use them), but this is a single-use template. There is no reason why this can't be contained in the article itself. Resolute 16:28, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Subst and delete This is a one use template. Game logs are great but they shouldn't be separate templates. -DJSasso (talk) 20:01, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Subst and delete Game logs is useful for seasons articles, but there is no need to create a template when it is going to be used in only one article. The proper use of {{NBA game log start}}, {{NBA game log section}} and {{NBA game log end}} is the one used in those good articles, e.g. 2006–07 Toronto Raptors season#Game log. — MT (talk) 07:45, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Per here and here. Just like Agritubel and Team RadioShack in those discussions, Geox-TMC is now a defunct cycling team, and in that regards, the template is now redundant. Craig(talk) 07:52, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Needs commons category (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

A template with no practical use. Just transfer and you may fix it. Unnecessary and a bit redundant with {{Copy to Wikimedia Commons}} as it describes to transfer the file. Check WP:FNN. ~~Ebe123~~ → report on my contribs. 01:39, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

it was used when i was bot transferring files to commons. since that task is no longer active this template is not needed. ΔT The only constant 03:14, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
