Template:Location map+overlay (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

Fork of Template:Location map+ to add the ability to include an overlay image. Although this was already possible by overloading the "marker", I have added this feature to "Location map+", so this template is no longer needed. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 21:21, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Morgan State bowl games (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

Useless navbox. All red links Mhiji (talk) 14:53, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Keep No longer all redlinks. Strikehold (talk) 02:41, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
But the box is still useless. It doesn't aid navigation, which navboxes are designed to do. Creating redirects so that the links are blue rather than red doesn't solve anything - the issue is still there. Mhiji (talk) 01:37, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was no consensus to delete, but some consensus to modify, rename, split, or otherwise modify. Discussion regarding such actions can take place on the template's talk page or elsewhere if desired. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 00:14, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Mesivtas (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

The grouping of items in this category is a that of a very narrow point of view and unnecessary. There is no official (or even agreed upon) definition of a "Mesivta". All of these schools can be put in their correct geographic location (or whatever) template for high schools. Joe407 (talk) 13:53, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I believe this template should be retained. Firstly, in truth there are dozens of Mesivtas nationwide. (A large number of them have Wikipedia articles.) Second, for the thousands of Ultra-orthodox Jewish boys entering high school each year, this template can assist them in browsing the numerous options available. 173.54.201.130 (talk) 03:17, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
"this template can assist them in browsing the numerous options available." Please read WP:NOTDIR. Wikipedia is not a webhost, a guidance counselor or a directory of schools. You are also not addressing the main concern that this is an ill-defined grouping that can either include every Jewish school worldwide or a very narrow slice of Jewish schools according to the whim of the last editor to touch the template. Joe407 (talk) 20:57, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The definition of Mesivta, as used in the United States, is: Haredi Jewish high school for boys. Compare with "Rabbinical Schools in New Jersey (incomplete)", which is similar in scope. (Perhaps this template should be split into different regions.) 173.54.201.130 (talk) 02:59, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A) This makes it region centric as opposed to global. B) What if the school does not have Mesivta in its title? Or what if the school spells it Metivta (with the sephardic pronunciation)? Or calls itself a mesivta but does not identify as Haredi? For example, The Metivta. Joe407 (talk) 09:06, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Delete We don't need a template for all the countless high-schools within Haredi Judaism. Or any other vocation or religion, for that matter. Debresser (talk) 05:12, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Would you distinguish between high-school, yeshiva ketana, and post high school? Joe407 (talk) 04:26, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Does the category? --Muhandes (talk) 06:09, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It seems to. It looks like it is only post-high school. Joe407 (talk) 14:31, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Then I propose to do the same for the navigation template. Perhaps there is room for two templates, Template:Orthodox yeshivot in the United States (for post high school) and Template:Orthodox Jewish high schools in the United States. Anyway. I propose to limit this to the US, as it seems to be anyway. --Muhandes (talk) 15:49, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps Rename "Orthodox Jewish high schools". 173.54.201.130 (talk) 14:45, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
