Template:Nero (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

WP:NENAN. Only links the artist and 1 single article. Mhiji (talk) 20:06, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • comment if this ends up being kept, it should be renamed to {{Nero (musicians)}}, since this has nothing to do with the Emperor Nero, nor the Ahead Nero burner software. 184.144.163.241 (talk) 05:46, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Template created in 2008. Not used today. Lightmouse (talk) 16:51, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Proposer. Lightmouse (talk) 16:51, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Are other similar ones used? Perhaps this should be used DGG ( talk ) 03:34, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete These lists are essentially trivia (should be integrated into text in a rational way instead of a random list of unrelated rankings at the end). We should not be encouraging the use of this template, or the creation of other similar ones. Calliopejen1 (talk) 16:57, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Fb r header (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

Deprecated template; has completely been superseded by {{Fb r2 header}}. Soccer-holicI hear voices in my head... 16:24, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment Although it might be possible that this template would also satisfy speedy deletion requirements (T3, to be exact), I am taking this to regular TfD since there is a whole category of subtemplates (Category:Fb team abbreviation) which would (and indeed should) also become defunct upon the completion of this request. Feel free to move this deletion request to speedy deletion, but nevertheless, I could use some advice how to get rid of said category and its content WITHOUT the need to manually edit ~380 templates... Thanks in advance, Soccer-holicI hear voices in my head... 16:33, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Additional comment It is planned to rename/move {{Fb r2 header}} to {{Fb r header}} upon the completion of this request, in order to achieve naming consistency with the rest of the templates for results tables in football season articles. Would it theoretically be possible that this move could be executed via the move button, or is the "Fb r header" name blocked/SALTed after the deletion? If the latter should be the case – could the sysop deleting this template also execute the intended move? Thanks again, Soccer-holicI hear voices in my head... 16:42, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Italy Squad 2003 UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

According to old TFD and Footy discussion, youth event isn't a notable event to create such template, a superstar may won 20+ such "minor" and "major" competitions . Matthew_hk tc 16:10, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Template:BASEPAGENAME (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

The template was created in case anyone tried to use a parameter with the magic word {{BASEPAGENAME}}. While this is an ingenious idea, it's not necessary. Per Wikipedia:MAGIC#Variables, {{BASEPAGENAME}} can take a parameter, to show the base page name of a page other than the current page. Also, per mw:Help:Magic words#Variables, "adding parameters [to a variable] will force the parser to treat a variable as a template; for example, {{CURRENTDAYNAME|x}} transcludes Template:CURRENTDAYNAME." So this template is preventing BASEPAGENAME from doing its job cymru.lass (hit me up)(background check) 06:43, 3 January 2011 (UTC)Keep When i nommed this, I didn't fully understand that the template could be "fixed" but now it has. --- cymru.lass (hit me up)(background check) 06:31, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but the magic words take most parameters with a ":". See http://test.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Rich_Farmbrough for how this might work. However it is worth adapting the template to support the parameter. Rich Farmbrough, 12:06, 3 January 2011 (UTC).[reply]
Oh yes.. keep I sometimes forget the !vote... Rich Farmbrough, 12:06, 3 January 2011 (UTC).[reply]
Yes I have more or less done that.... Rich Farmbrough, 07:55, 4 January 2011 (UTC).[reply]
Question Perhaps I am dense, but why do we need it. If even more BASEPAGENAME features work without it, then what is the point in having it? 134.253.26.4 (talk) 01:04, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
They do work as intended, but if someone puts {{BASEPAGENAME|<arg>}} instead of {{BASEPAGENAME:<arg>}} it will fail. this template, and a number of similar ones prevent or mitigate that failure. Cymru Lass misread the intention of the documentation (which has never been clear) - "treat a variable the string as a template; for example, {{CURRENTDAYNAME|x}} transcludes Template:CURRENTDAYNAME - resulting in a red link f there is no such template" would have been clearer, maybe. Rich Farmbrough, 07:55, 4 January 2011 (UTC).[reply]
Note: to add to the confusion some magic words do take a piped parameter. Rich Farmbrough, 08:00, 4 January 2011 (UTC).[reply]
I clarified the docs I hope. Rich Farmbrough, 08:07, 4 January 2011 (UTC).[reply]
