Template:Use ymd dates (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

The template is only used on some 3–4 articles, in which the YYYY-MM-DD format is even used in prose, something that is uncommon in English. The ISO format may generally be used in tables or references, but this usage alone shouldn't warrant a maintenance template and its associated category tree. Unlike the "dmy" and "mdy" template, which actually have some sort of usage, this one's really pointless. In the articles that use this date format in lists, the template should just be removed, where it's used in prose another date format should be chosen. "Keep per" arguments are bogus given that the previous TfD was a multiple nom largely concentrating on the whole purpose of the formatting templates. This one simply nominates a template which is probably actually harmful, as it implies that using a date format that most readers are unfamiliar with is fine. Comment I've seen some articles that have been category bombed, so some articles could use less categories. (some editors seem to think every parent to every category attached to the article should be added... some others think that every sentence of an article should be categorized appropriately, even if the article isn't about that subject) 70.24.248.23 (talk) 06:22, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
