Adding a new AfD discussion

@Miminity I recommend bundling the nomination of all of the recently created stubs for NIFT campuses (see here: National_Institute_of_Fashion_Technology#Campus) and I support a redirect of each one to National_Institute_of_Fashion_Technology#Campus due to lack of WP:SIGCOV in WP:SIRS outside of its target area per WP:BRANCH. Amla Sadarpur Secondary School

Well-established but ultimately non-notable school. None of the sources cited contribute anything towards notability, and a BEFORE search finds nothing more than the usual social media accounts, directory listings, etc. (If someone can find non-English sources that satisfy the WP:GNG standard, please do.) Attempt to Add Citations - Hmm, I will try to see if there is anything that can be done. I will try to look for citations that makes proof that the school is notable. Many more might participate, if this page is seen by more, If there are not any citations or proof of notability, there is possibly a reason for deletion.   Well, you don't appear to live in New Zealand. Hence, you wouldn't know about PapersPast. And beyond that, you'll find heaps of stuff via ProQuest, which you have access to via the Wikipedia Library. Draftify: While I'm not finding any immediate sources (only did a Google search), this school is definitely around 50 years old (UK incorporation documentation). - Listings like this one from The Sunday Times are notable enough to count towards the RS coverage total of the GNG. Will keep looking, as I'm about 50/50 on whether this could work as an article.   That footnote says If the list itself is notable, such as the Fortune 500 and the Michelin Guide, the inclusion counts like any other reliable source, but it does not exempt the article from the normal value of providing evidence that independent sources discuss the subject.   We're going a bit off-topic (which is fine for me; I'm not super concerned about this article but now I kinda on a kick seeing how UK schools are ranked). Looking into it, The Times's school rankings may themselves clear GNG. See [2], [3], [4]. Their rankings seem to be a standard. Hi, The reason I created the article was due to the Schools inclusion in a number of articles by UK News Outlets about the continued success of the school, with it earning the title and reputation in the Liverpool region for "the best institution for primary education in Merseyside" https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/best-primary-schools-merseyside-ranked-22404373 this coupled with it being featured nationally in the times schools of the year rankings. The decision to create it an article also stems from the history the schools establishment is the continuation of Woolton Hall Preparatory School, part of the history of Woolton Hall. I would also like to state that it has only been a matter of hours since the articles creation, and I believe it would be more prudent to expand the third party sourcing of this school's article rather then deleting it. I would also like to advise that it does not fall under a for-profit school due to its establishment as a registered charity for providing a school upholding the catholic faith, UK Gov Charity registration number will be added to the article to greater clarify this. My concern is if you can provide three reliable and independent sources that have WP:SIGCOV about the school. Wikipedia has certain guidelines for inclusion, so school rankings by themselves aren't really what I'm looking for. An AfD lasts at least 7 days so there is no need to rush. But I did not find the sourcing I was hoping to find when I looked. Drafts cannot overcome notability concerns and aren't supposed to be a backdoor to deletion, so I figured it'd be worth raising the matter now. Even if you can overcome the notability hurdle, there's still the promotional issue. The entire lede consists of promotional items not discussed elsewhere in the article. A lede for a school article should include the town and political division where the school is located; the name of the lowest level administrative authority that controls it, and a brief summary of the high points of the rest of the article. Also, you should arrange the sections of the article as outlined at WP:WPSCH/AG. Further, there is a bunch of flowery language scattered throughout the article. A good rule of thumb is, you cannot say anything either good or bad about the school in Wikipedia's voice. You need to directly quote a reliable secondary source that is completely independent of the school. However, the text in the History section needs to be re-worked, preferably using chronological order and a simplified narrative. It would be useful to differentiate between the history of the buildings the school has occupied from the various iterations of the school's title and organization. Primary schools seldom meet the referencing requirements of WP:GNG, but this one now does, thanks to WP:HEY effort of Knowledgework69. Procedural keep: While I acknowledge that high school articles are not automatically notable, there is a community consensus that a good faith WP:BEFORE that includes some print resources or local newspapers is needed, per this RfC. This is especially important given the underrepresentation of high schools from the non-English-speaking parts of the world on the English Wikipedia. I don’t live in Istanbul so cannot pop round to a local library in Kartal, but there must be plenty of editors who do live in the city, so if they wish to find offline resources to cite to keep the article it will be easier for them than for me. Ankara National Lottery Anatolian High School

Keep: I would say almost all Anatolian High Schools established in the early 90s or before and required entrance exams are very likely to be notable, especially in metropolitan cities like Ankara. They were extremely hard to get in via the nationwide admission tests. Many sources covering them would be offline, unfortunately. Turns out the name of the school has changed in 2012, following 2011 Van Earthquakes. The new name is Betül Can Anadolu Lisesi. One needs to be in the top 3.75% of the participants in order to be placed into this school. I am pretty sure this was much tougher in the pre-1997 era, when there were fewer Anatolian High Schools and the placement was done after 5th grade, so they did not have to compete with Science High Schools. This itself does not bring notability, I know, but it significantly increases the likelihood of coverage in reliable sources. E.g., here is a news story about a success of their students. Moore Center for Theoretical Cosmology and Physics

Unable to verify anything about this center outside of Wiki mirrors and this about its creation. Nothing even approaching N:ORG. I do not think a redirect to Caltech is a viable ATD as while it is/was housed there, there's no indication it was part of Caltech and one to Marc Kamionkowski doesn't appear helpful to the reader and as it's not mentioned in Mark B. I respectfully and strongly disagree. In almost all cases, academic programs are notable only because of one or both of two things: high rankings from independent sources, and notable faculty and alumni. The entry establishes that the Program in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior, Michigan State University, satisfies both of those criteria.

If this is not sufficient, then I would point out that there are countless other entries on Wikipedia about academic units that should also be deleted. I won’t name them (except see below) because I think they are useful entries for people trying to understand the connections between scholars, the histories of fields, possible places for study, and more.

I note that ElKevbo is a scholar at the University of Delaware, like MSU also a superb public university. When I go to the categories page for that university, the top entry I see in the left column is for the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics. The top entry I see in the right column is the Institute of Energy Conversion. Neither lists any external references that indicate notability. These are just two such entries in the University of Delaware category, and there are several others.

I don’t envy the Wikipedia editors who must work hard to sustain quality and, in so doing, set and implement reasonable and fair standards. However, those standards may need revision and/or more reliance on good-faith, verifiable information about well-known institutions and productive scholars. Otherwise, the standards should be enforced consistently and fairly. I favor more reliance on good-faith, readily verifiable information (even if from university websites) about institutions and scholars, which I think will allow Wikipedia to be most useful to its readers. No, in every case programs are notable by Wikipedia standards because they meet our general notability guideline or notability guidelines for organizations. Simply being highly ranked is not at all sufficient. Nor can a program be notable because notable people are associated with it. We need independent, reliable sources about this program sufficient to establish that it's notable on its own. I agree with the decent here. There are other units in wikipedia that don't seem to follow these notability guidelines. In most programs/schools, all of the references come from that university's website. For example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_of_Geography_and_the_Environment,_University_of_Oxford, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ecology_School, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_of_Social_Ecology. The standard should be applied consistently across programs- meaning these others should be deleted too. Comment There is a several of these department articles that are essentially cut and paste article with the information lifted from the university websites resulting in a WP:PRIMARY sources that fails WP:SIRS.
