Reason for requesting Reviewer rights Plea$ant 1623 11:48, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
(Non-administrator observation) Why are you requesting this? Reviewer rights were only used with the WP:Pending changes feature trial and that feature has been removed. Being a reviewer is currently meaningless. (Although if they still give reviewer out for some reason, I'd like it too.) (That was a joke.) Specs112 t c 12:48, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Actually, the userright is being used as part of WP:AFT5; it has a purpose. Ironholds (talk) 16:02, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
    • My apologies, I didn't know that AFT5 was using this, or even what AFT5 was really, until now. Consider my interest piqued. Specs112 t c 16:56, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
I can't find anywhere that reviewer rights are used for WP:AFT5.Could you please link any article which states this?Max Viwe | Viwe The Max 18:21, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
We held a Request for Comment here; I feel kinda leery about adding it into policy in my "official" role - staffers and policy shouldn't mix. However, you're right; it should totally be added and I am sorry for forgetting it. Does anyone want to volunteer? Ironholds (talk) 18:26, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
I changed the section title to "Article Feedback Reviewer". It's possible, of course, that this permission will be extended in discussions at WT:PC/RFC2012, but it's important, I think, not to try to preempt the coming discussion there. I don't think it hurts anything not to move the page (from .../Reviewer), as long as the current purpose is clear. - Dank (push to talk) 18:48, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
Well if I'm reading right, it looks like that RfC has now been closed and passed - that is, PC is being turned back on. Ironholds (talk) 19:56, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
I'm not sure what concerning Article feedback should be added, else I would have added it to Wikipedia:Reviewing. If you drop some related links and suggested text to my talk, I'll add them for you, else, I don't think it's a big deal for you to do so if you like, Ironholds. - jc37 20:05, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
Basically just a note saying "this user right is also used for"... I'll add it now :). Ironholds (talk) 20:07, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
Well if I'm reading right, it looks like that RfC has now been closed and passed - that is, PC is being turned back on. Ironholds (talk) 19:56, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
Correct, and the closing statement implies that the community hasn't decided yet what the process for granting reviewership will be; that and other things will be discussed and decided between now and November 1. Btw, currently The Blade and I are the only two who have volunteered for the bear pit closing that discussion. - Dank (push to talk) 20:01, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
FWIW, I get that we don't want to turn on PC and then go looking for reviewers, and I'll suggest that we tackle the topic of reviewer permissions sooner rather than later in the ongoing PC discussions ... and several others have mentioned the same thing. - Dank (push to talk) 20:12, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
So... how actually is this going to work? Is reviewer being brought back now? I'm not sure how I feel about pending changes making a comeback (I hadn't come back from wikibreak yet when the RFC was held). Also, it amuses me that we're using this request as a forum, but nobody has actually done the original requester's request yet. Specs112 t c 20:42, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

Yes, the pending changes is reactivating on December 1st.--Anderson9990 - Talk to me - False Positive? Report it! 01:28, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

sorry about that mistake.--Anderson9990 - Talk to me - False Positive? Report it! 04:49, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Ack, I was hoping to defer to another admin. Here's my thinking on the subject. You've just gotten rollback and you're doing quite well under ItsZippy's tutelage in the CVUA. That's awesome, and I think you should focus on that for the time being, and definitely read up on policies and guidelines when you're not vandal-whacking. Handling feedback from users just a few weeks less experienced than you - as I understand it - may be a bit much for someone who's still getting their wiki-legs. God knows it took me a few months to have a decent handle on all the policies, and that was several years ago. So I would take it slow and not take on too many tasks at once. Again, if another passing admin thinks you'd make good use of the tool, I'm not going to wheel-war or dispute that decision, but I don't want to flag you right now. I'm interested in helping helping out with the new AFTv5 tool (functions like hiding unconstructive feedback/viewing hidden feedback). I realize this can also be done with rollbacker rights, but I'm not particularly interested in those since I'm not a huge vandal fighter and I can do roughly the same thing with Twinkle anyway. Also, as you probably know, Pending Changes is coming back in December, so I figure I might as well get the reviewer right for that too. Hello. Since reviewer rights are currently being given only for WP:AFT5, I'm not going to be an exception here. I have near 1000 edits with 25+ articles created. I take keen interest in developing articles. Feedback from AFT can help me to add some quality to my work and solve specific problems related to articles. You do not seem to have understood WP:CLEANSTART (admittedly, it is not very clear, and you certainly are being open and honest). I will remind you that it says "If you attempt a clean start, but are recognized, you will be held accountable for your actions under both the old and new accounts". Anyway, that's not entirely relevant here, so I'll leave it up to the reviewing admin to decide your suitability for reviewer rights. Feel free to contact an administrator (privately) if you would prefer your request and my answer to both be revdel'd - I have no objections to that being done.   Question: Do you mean hiding comments on the AFT5 tool to remove vandalism, when saying to fight vandalism?Chip123456 (talk) 16:40, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
Partly, i think it is highly likely some of the comments or threats will become actual vandalism edits and since i like using the current version 4 both myself and by reading the results of pages, i'd want to help address the issues people put forward on version 5, especially if this requires me to remove comments or give out vandalism warnings. The permission would be more of a necessity to me here than something that is not used, although i would hope a lot of people using the box would be more mature and adult in the first place so this wasn't needed. Thanks Jenova20 (email) 16:50, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

Autopatrolled user, seeking to be a reviewer to fight vandal and have neutral pages on wikipedia BabuOnWiki (talk) 10:04, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
Question: Do you mean hiding comments on the AFT5 tool to remove vandalism, when saying to fight vandalism?--Chip123456 (talk) 16:39, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
Reply By the way of hiding comments in AFT5, I suppose it is going to remain in the history like other pages in WP. There are chances for the IP to restore back the vandalised comments. So this has to be overthrown. So there needs to be thought for the better way in dealing with the vandal comments in AFT5. --BabuOnWiki (talk) 11:37, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
So if hidden comments are WP:REVDELETEd, then this may lead to the vandal to irk repeatedly the comments page. So vandalism may continue. --BabuOnWiki (talk) 12:47, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
(non-admin closure) - First, you don't fight vandalism with the reviewer right (as of right now), second, the right you are asking for is probably rollback, and I think you're ready for that. --J (t) 12:51, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I requested this a little while ago and the response was that with about 1,000 edits, it wasn't quite enough. I was asked to reapply when I had a couple hundred more edits. I'm now over 2,000 (though there is some replag) and am seeking this perm to assist with AFT5 and in the event that PC returns. I recently created a few articles, and I wanted to cover more on articles, rather than my average copyedit or whathaveyou. So in that state of mind, I decided to take a look at article feedback on other articles, and I realized just how much kinda-abusive and all around unhelpful feedback there is. I have read the reasons to hide feedback and when to request oversight. Also, since I missed pending changes the last time around, I'd like to help out in Dec. I have been a Wikipedian for six years, but haven't been an active editor throughout that duration, mainly due to business in non-virtual reality, and have made a few thousand edits, but none are in and of themselves overwhelmingly significant. From time to time, I revert vandalism, but mostly while making minor edits and/or corrections, among things; in my earlier days, I did considerably more vandalism reversion. If granted reviewer status, I intend on using the permission to better counter vandalism or otherwise unconstructive edits and perhaps to use it for Pending Changes in time, when it is reintroduced. I'm currently a rollbacker for what it's worth, (though I often prefer to do manual reversions because one can always make other changes, or improvements, as well)! I counter vandalism, and I know what is vandalism and what is not. I'm sure this tool will benefit Wikipedia greatly as now, anonymous editors can edit protected pages in good faith, rather than be prevented from editing it because of the actions of others. And usually, it's the articles that are visible the highest that are the ones that are protected. I want to be a reviewer for Pending Changes, that is, when and if it is reinstated. Thank you. My reputation as an editor is mostly spread out across participating (and doing some non-admin closures) of deletion discussions, patrolling recent changes and new users page for vandalism, and participating in some of the new feedback program such as New editor feedback, and Article feedback. My participation in deletion discussions and designating speedy deletion/proposed deletions has helped me familiarize with differentiating between vandalism, copyright infringement, personal attacks, good-faith mistakes, and content that needs to be cleaned up. They have also helped me appreciate the importance of neutrality, the verifiability of claims, WP:NOT, and original research being out of place on this project. I am also a rollbacker, and have tried to use this thoughtfully. I generally prefer to leave an edit summary rather than simply rollback edits as it is more helpful to other editors reviewing my work. I request reviewer permissions to help out with pending changes, should they be reintroduced. I have also checked out the testing pages to see how the reviewer permission work and how they change the history and editing pages for articles. (Non-administrator comment) You are a rollbacker, so you can already monitor feedback at AFTv5. TRLIJC19 (talkcontribs) 23:16, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment)   Question: Is another reason you want this right is to edit with the return of the pending changes trial?--Anderson (Public) (talk) 22:18, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment)Sorry for not responding to this the soonest possible. I was not aware that with the Rollbacker rights I can monitor comments AFTv5. There is no other reason as to why I had put up this request. Having said that I think this request can now be archived. Thank you everyone. ₫ӓ₩₳ Talk to Me. Email Me. 05:47, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
Not done per above, request withdrawn. Request will be archived in 2 days. --Mysterytrey 22:20, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
