As an Admin, I'm mildly embarrassed to be bringing this here, but I've read through the history merge instructions, and I'm pretty sure I can't use the special page. So, given how much of a pain in the ass these things can be to undo, I'm going to bring it to the experts, rather than taking the chance of mucking it up myself.

Radio station KSCF changed its call sign to KEGY on April 2, 2012. That should have been facilitated by renaming the KSCF article, but was done as a cut-and-paste instead. KSCF is now a redirect to KEGY, which is great. However, the complicating factor is that KEGY was initially created as a redirect to KSCF until the copy was cut and pasted over. As a result, there's overlapping history.

Help? P.S. I'm all for being self-sufficient and learning new skills, so if anyone's willing to walk me through how this gets fixed post-fix, I'd be very interested. Mlaffs (talk) 00:42, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

@Mlaffs: Done. Most of the history overlap was merely 3 late redirect edits appended to KSCF's history. First I deleted KSCF, then I undeleted it except those last 3 edits. After I moved KSCF to KEGY, when undeleting KEGY, I did not undelete its oldest edit, which was a stray early redirect edit which also history-overlapped. I don't know what to say. MCI, a disambig page, was recently moved to MCI ( Mobile Telecommunication Company of Iran ), which I felt was just plain wrong. This was done by User:Ultimate1220, probably in good faith. I did a fix by reviving an old MCI page, but the edit history for it is now on the "Iran" page. Please help. One hour translation appears to have been formed by cut & paste move on 1 September 2013 where 5k of text appeared in one edit. User:Yaronkau/sandbox has a very similar text preceding it: 5.7k of text appeared on 31 January 2013 out of nowhere "fully formed" and with vestiges of Wikipedia style references (in plain text like [1], [2] etc.) which suggests it was copied from something earlier, which I can't find. The Mutts article was created in 2006 about a British band, but is now a separate article about an American band, which is proposed for deletion. The article was changed between two topics a few times in March and April 2008 and the history contains versions of both articles including two revisions on 17 April (19:44 and 19:47) with both on one page; the latest version that is only the original article is 19:36. A separate article was created at The Mutts (American band) but after three revisions was moved to The Mutts (UK) at 19:48 and replaced with the British band's article. Philadelphia Fury (1978–80) was created by a cut/paste move from Philadelphia Fury, which now covers a newer team with the same name. All of the edits prior to April 11, 2014 cover only the older team and definitely belong in the 1978–80 article. However there was an intermediate period between this edit and this edit where the Philadelphia Fury article covered both teams, and I am not sure what should be done with this portion of the page history. Not done Synthpunk was moved to Electropunk per WP:RM. Electropunk had been a redirect to Synthpunk, but there was a lot of old history under that redirect.
