Insect identification

Seen in the south of England. A LARGE cricket/grasshopper. Is it Tettigonia viridissima? ITookSomePhotos (talk) 13:25, 25 October 2021 (UTC)

That looks very likely and a female, comparing your image with that in the article. Mikenorton (talk) 13:42, 25 October 2021 (UTC)

Yes, good point, as it seems to have an ovipositor, if I'm looking at the right part. ITookSomePhotos (talk) 13:59, 25 October 2021 (UTC)

At nearly 7 cm long (including the female's long ovipositor), the Great green bush-cricket certainly lives up to its name! It can be found in grassland, scrub and woodland rides in Southern England and Wales... easily recognised as it is by far our largest bush-cricket. It is green with an orangey-brown stripe running the length of the body, and long wings. [1]
