Hermitian adjoint vs conjugate transpose

Both the article for Hermitian adjoint and the one for conjugate transpose mention "Hermitian conjugate" as an alternative name. Are they the same in essence? In particular I am researching quantum computing at the moment. The Average Wikipedian (talk) 14:47, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Technically, the former is limited to square matrices, or generally, linear maps from a vector space to itself, while the latter is not.--Jasper Deng (talk) 14:50, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
