Portal:Food edit

Can portals be peer reviewed? I've heard Portal:India was peer reviewed, so I guess Portal:Food is entitled to it as well --TBC ??? ??? ??? 04:39, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it can be peer reviewed- for WP:FPORT. This is a very new portal, so it is difficult to tell whether or not it will be well-maintained - see Wikipedia:What is a featured portal?, as the news only goes up to 12 January. Under "Food lists", the sentence is "The following are categories relating to food:", should be changed to the following are lists. I suggest the creation of a section "Things you can do" to bring users into helping out. Thanks, AndyZ t 20:27, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The news goes up only to 12 January because that was the most recent date the food section of Wikinews was updated. Anyhow, thanks for your comments --TBC ??? ??? ??? 20:53, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I like the inclusion of the article on food, but I think it looks a bit odd at the top. It seems a bit simpllistic to define food on initial eyelevel, as most people that would come to the food portal would know that information anyhow. I think that some revolving quotes from notables about food would look better be more enlightening.
The rest of the article is comprehensive and well-crafted. I like the featured food article and the pic, too. The food news is also well-done. Overall, its getting there. Good Work. youngamerican (talk) 19:15, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks for the comments, I've already added a Quote and "Things you can do" section --TBC ??? ??? ??? 06:48, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • It's very good overall. However, the other wikipedia section is too big. That's probably the least important thing on there. It probably shouldn't even be included. If it is, it should be smaller. Also, you should link to main food pages. Sure the cats and lists let you find any page, but widely viewed, important pages should probably be linked to from the portal. Perhaps a section "Topics in food" Tobyk777 05:46, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
