Very touchy subject between China and Japan. This article has been subject to a lot of pov-pushing from both sides, and I'd like to draw some neutral eyes to the article. Also could use some suggestions for general form and content. savidan^{(talk) (e@)} 23:29, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The statement "In 1931, confirming that no other countries had claimed the reefs, Japan declared it Japanese territory, placing it under the jurisdiction of the City of Tokyo, ... ." needs clarification. In the article, "City of Tokyo" links to the article Tokyo, but in 1931, the City of Tokyo was different from what is now Tokyo (prefecture). (See the article Tokyo City.) Two entities had the name Tokyo: a city and a prefecture. The city is defunct as a governmental organization, having been abolished in 1943, whereas the prefecture is the predecessor of the present-day Tokyo. So the question is, did Japan place it under the jurisdiction of Tokyo the city, or of Tokyo the prefecture? Fg2 07:41, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
