This is just a guy using Wikipedia to publish his own CV. It has no merit or value to the community and was written by the subject (Joseph Ó Ruanaidh) about himself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Obrienk (talkcontribs) 20 September 2006

I see no reason why this guys Cv is there. There are lots of poeple, academics andothers from Ballyfermot who could be there. Why indulge this man's enormous ego? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.202.144.1 (talkcontribs) 31 October 2006

This is unfair.

I am not "just a guy". How all this happened was that I read the article about Ballyfermot and I was not happy. It only contains references to sports stars, politicians and presenters. Is that all that comes from Ballyfermot? Need I say that there is a gangster mentioned in there too?

I discussed this with some people and it was they who suggested that I should be there as well. People I know personally such as Steve Lawrence have Wikipedia pages. So I read the guidelines and I found that I meet them. The guidelines say, for example, that the person should "have a large Google footprint" and should have published papers that were read by more than 5000 people. My book alone sold over 1400 copies, many to libraries around the world. I also have a large number of citations. I would suggest that whomever wrote the above to please check out the external links.

Sorry to sound off like this but this is very harsh criticism from someone I do not know and who does not know me. Why not check the facts before judging so harshly? The only thing I am guilty of is writing the article myself.

I have letters of reference written by notable people such as Prof Murat Kunt, Editor in Chief of the Journal "Signal Processing" and Steve Lawrence that list my academic achievements. In addition, I have a newspaper article from The Evening Herald dated Aug 22nd, 1990 that gives some details of my earlier life history. These can be made available in pdf form to anyone that requests them for the purposes of peer review. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Oruanaidh (talkcontribs) 26 September 2006

Joe, did you forget to mention where your brilliant career started, two long years in the Don must count for something. Great to hear about your achievements, will get my hands on your book and peruse it later. All the best for the future, Cheers P Gav —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.194.9.90 (talkcontribs) 17 October 2006
