Ernie Brace was the longest-held US civilian prisoner of war from the Vietnam War. Of course, there's almost no independent reporting for the seven years he spent in Laos and North Vietnam. The article has more sources discussing Brace's earlier court martial. I can't find significant copyright-free supporting materials, either.
