  1. Why do you want to be a Wikipedia Ambassador?
I want to be an Ambassador because it can help me introduce new editors, get to know editors, educate those editors to become prolific and constructive editors and become a better contributor myself.
  2. In three sentences or less, summarize your involvement with Wikimedia projects.
I'm part of WikiProjects Aircraft, Airplanes, Military history, Ships and Wikify, as well as the Guild of Copy Editors. I have contributed extensively to the coordination of WikiProject Wikify, and its and the Guild's backlog elimination drive, and am joining The Great Backlog Drive.
  3. Please indicate a few articles to which you have made significant content contributions. (e.g. DYK, GA, FA, major revisions/expansions/copyedits).
Arado E.381 and 4477th TES and Canopus class battleship. I have extensively copyedited, please refer to the Guild drive archives.
  4. How have you been involved with welcoming and helping new users on Wikipedia?
I am a WikiGnome, and as such, I have once had a spike of vandalism fighting. Invariably, new editors are engaged in vandalism, and I use automated tools such as Twinkle and Friendly to welcome them with standard templates.
  5. What do you see as the most important ways we could welcome newcomers or help new users become active contributors?
Mentoring. I believe there is a project for this, labeled Adoption, and I have been involved minorly with it in the past.
  6. Have you had major conflicts with other editors? Blocks or bans? Involvement in arbitration? Feel free to offer context, if necessary.
I have not yet, to the extent of my knowledge. I have been engaged in a minor conflict in WP:FAC
  7. How often do you edit Wikipedia and check in on ongoing discussions? Will you be available regularly for at least two hours per week, in your role as a mentor?
I edit/check on discussions I have commented at many times a day, depending on my off-wiki constraints. I will definitely be able to edit for more than 2 hours a week.
  8. What else should we know about you that is relevant to being a Wikipedia Ambassador?
    I think that is it... WikiCopter (simplecommonslostcvuonau) 06:06, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
