  1. Why do you want to be a Wikipedia Ambassador?
    I would like to be a Wikipedia Ambassador because I know I can help students who are using Wikipedia, because I have been in there shoes before, and there wasn't any "mentor" there to help me at first, and i really feel the need to help them, so they can do the same for the next generation.
  2. In three sentences or less, summarize your involvement with Wikimedia projects.
    I have used most of the Wikimedia projects like Wikisource, Wikibooks, Wictionary, and Wikipedia, wich I love to use.
  3. Please indicate a few articles to which you have made significant content contributions. (e.g. DYK, GA, FA, major revisions/expansions/copyedits).
    I mostly edit pages related to sports (basketball), and basketball players(Puerto Rican basketball players, NBA players, and NBA legends), but i also edit pages that involve society problems (like bullying) and inspirational figures around the world (like Martin Luther King Jr., before it was semi-protected).
  4. How have you been involved with welcoming and helping new users on Wikipedia?
    I recently joined the "Welcoming Committiee WikiProject" and I love helping out the new users and mentoring them around Wikipedia.
  5. What do you see as the most important ways we could welcome newcomers or help new users become active contributors?
    I think sending a welcome message with all the information and tutorials to newcomers via-talk page is the most effective way. Also, we can try and make them contributors by inviting them to the several positive WikiProjects around Wikipedia that help out in specific Wikipedia-related topics.
  6. Have you had major conflicts with other editors? Blocks or bans? Involvement in arbitration? Feel free to offer context, if necessary.
    I have a plesure to say that I haven't. Everyone has been nice to me, and I'm nice to everybody.
  7. How often do you edit Wikipedia and check in on ongoing discussions? Will you be available regularly for at least two hours per week, in your role as a mentor?
    I log in to Wikipedia every day, and I can be up to 8 hours daily editing and checking in on active discussions and helping out on the WikiProjects I am part of.
  8. How would you make sure your students were not violating Copyright laws?
    I would explain to them the Copyright laws the way I visualize them, and to help them with researching, I would give them a task of searching Copyright laws and send me their own summary about it, just to be a little creative with them.
  9. If one of your students had an issue with Copyright Violation how would resolve it?
    It depends if the student did it intentionally or not. If the student where to do it intentionally, knowing that I provide them with the information about Copyright laws, I would asume the student is not fully interested in my mentoring, so I would see if he/she would like to be removed from my mentoring program, but if it wasn't intentionally, I would revise the situation and figure a way to solve the problem. If the problem is to complicated to be resolved quickly, I will do extensive research with my student and try to resolve the problem by investigating the cause of the violation.
  10. In your _own_ words describe what Copyright Violation is.
    Copyright laws are a legal term giving the creator of an original work exclusive rights to the work. It usually lasts for a limited time, but it can be extended. We can mostly see them being used in company logos, slogans, amoung other things, like trademarks. I also know that the Copyright holder has several benefits to work.
  11. What else should we know about you that is relevant to being a Wikipedia Ambassador?
    I am a very pacient person, I am a great teacher and mentor as I have learned from coaching several basketball teams at all ages, I am part of over 20 WikiProjects and groups that help others and help Wikipedia be a better place, I'm also bilingual, and I have a college bachlor degree in Business Managment with a minor on psychology.

  • Hi Jay! Really appreciate the enthusiasm, but Online Ambassadors should be users who are quite experienced on Wikipedia, and you've got fewer edits than would generally be expected for the role. I would suggest you keep editing Wikipedia for a while, perhaps help out some new users informally, and build up your knowledge of the project so that you can be a great ambassador when you apply in the future.
