While concerns have been expressed regarding consistency of activity, there is overwhelming support for this candidate. There would be concerns with taking an extended break during an active semester, but taking breaks during summer is completely understandable.   1. Why do you want to be a Wikipedia Ambassador?
    I've always liked helping newbies, prevent them from getting bitten, and also like introducing students to Wikipedia.
  2. In three sentences or less, summarize your involvement with Wikimedia projects.
    Well, I'm mainly active on the English Wikipedia, and within that, on the Military History project. I've also edited on the Simple English, Russian and Akan (although I know nearly none of the language) Wikipedias.
  3. Please indicate a few articles to which you have made significant content contributions. (e.g. DYK, GA, FA, major revisions/expansions/copyedits).
    I'm am one of the authors of this Good topic, and have also worked on a Russian battleship, along with some DYK's.
  4. How have you been involved with welcoming and helping new users on Wikipedia?
    Usually, when I tag pages for CSD, I use the Twinkle auto-welcome to. I also try to welcome people making constructive edits I see on this page
  5. What do you see as the most important ways we could welcome newcomers or help new users become active contributors?
    Although the current method works well (welcome templates), I think that adding a bot generated list of WikiProjects, or a list of articles soon after the first edit by the account could help more, along with possibly pushing adoption more.
  6. Have you had major conflicts with other editors? Blocks or bans? Involvement in arbitration? Feel free to offer context, if necessary.
    Hmmm..... My IP was blocked as a Bambifan sock, which I couldn't appeal and had to wait out. I've had a few conflicts with other editors, but nothing major.
  7. How often do you edit Wikipedia and check in on ongoing discussions? Will you be available regularly for at least two hours per week, in your role as a mentor?
    I get on every day for at least half an hour. Weekends are more around two hours each. So, yes, I'll be readily available as mentor.
  8. What else should we know about you that is relevant to being a Wikipedia Ambassador?
    My spellign isn't supebr, mainly due to typos caused by my fast typing speed.

  • Overall I see a fine candidate, but I'm concerned with the lack of consistent editing. Can you shed some light on the inconsistency that would assure us that you will be sticking around to support the U.S. Education and Ambassador Program this semester? Well, the abscence during this summer was due to a summer vacation (annual). At all other times I am next to a computer, and am able to edit, albeit depending on RL. So yeah, summer semester is out of my grasp, but anything else is ok. Buggie111 (talk) 23:15, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
