We invite you to celebrate Black History Month with us. Learn to edit Wikipedia and/or Wikidata and help us improve coverage of Black histories!

When edit
This virtual editing campaign will last through the month of February 2023, beginning on February 1st.
There will be a kickoff event on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, 1-2:30PM. We will also run facilitated editing sessions over Zoom each Friday.
To join a virtual event, please register in order to receive the video call link. Feel free to come in late or leave early while editing. See #Schedule of events for details.
Where edit
Online. You can edit without joining a virtual event, or join a facilitated virtual event (kick-off event or weekly editing hours).
Who edit
This event is open to anyone who would like to help grow the sum of fair, dignified, and gender-inclusive Black histories on Wikipedia and Wikidata. All levels of skill are welcome.
What you will need edit
You will need internet access and a device (PC, tablet, etc.) which can handle text editing and web searches.
You will need a Wikimedia account in advance of the event if you don't yet have one. Go to Wikipedia.org or Wikidata.org and click on “Create account” in the top right corner, then fill out the short form to create an account.

If you are new and would like to learn to edit over one of the facilitated sessions, you will need simultaneous access to Zoom.
Training sessions edit
Optional training will be offered at the start of each editing session for Wikipedia and half-way through for Wikidata.
