edit

It has been a long time since last drinks... It is a local meetup.

Directions

edit

Meeting Place, despite it being 7 years since I took this one for the original meetup(its probably about time I took an updated version) every one should be able to find this general area.

Further info

  • For those who havent been to a meetup before, or not for a long time and have forgotten faces, some form of clear identification will be made - like a wikipedia t-shirt, or sign - will be near the entrance - on the day just before the time, so as to allay any issue of who are they or where are they JarrahTree 05:51, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • FYI – I didn't have any problems finding the venue (it was the Brass Monkey), I just didn't know what Wikipedia editors looked like, and there were no t-shirts, signs, etc, that I could see. Bahnfrend (talk) 08:10, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
      • from memory there wasn't that many of us there that time & none of us had tshirts that time. So I can understand you not realising which group of reprobates drinking at the bar we were.Dan arndt (talk) 05:32, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
        • that wasn't the only issue – I was also reluctant to risk being thrown out of the Brass Monkey by the bouncers for walking up to every table and asking the occupants whether they were a group of nerds who like sitting in front of a computer screen, often very late at night, typing in stuff about obscure topics of interest mainly only to other nerds(!) Bahnfrend (talk) 06:58, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
          • hahaha - funny that - the 10th anniversary at freo meetup was joined by a very social bunch of reddit people - that was where we had more t-shirts than could be wikipedians... User:JarrahTree 08:50, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
            • If I recall correctly, the State Library is rather a large place - a slightly more precise location might be useful. It also might be useful to let the "librarian" know so that if someone were to ask at the enquiry desk, for example, the enquiree would be able to give directions. When I asked the people behind the counter at Little Creatures, they had no idea what I was talking about. Mitch Ames (talk) 11:51, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
              • As the meetup is initially meeting up as in Gnangaras photo - at the southern entrance at the designated time - the mere presence of at least one individual at the entrance with a wikipedia t shirt would negate any reason to have to interact with the attendants at the inquiry desk inside. Success

edit

Six made it to lunch at the Aroma Cafe.

Despite the apologies and absences a very successful meetup - always good to put names to faces and vice versa. Despite Northbridge and the CBD being in traffic and pedestrian gridlock, and a range of things going on, we went to the State Library Coffee Shop - and had a very productive meeting. We were given a preview of the about to be launched Australian roads project, as well as a report from Sam about the Freopedia project, and things Fremantle. Sats also alluded to a possible Hi Mitch! Wheatbelt project, which is still being investigated.

The next meeting 6th July 2013, same place - by default the Library coffee shop 1.30 p.m. - gridlock etc permitting. User:JarrahTree 08:14, 6 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Australian Roads has now been launched, please come and have a look! - Evad37 (talk) 10:00, 6 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It was great to meet everyone! Thanks. Here's a photo. Sam Wilson 02:28, 7 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Onya, Sam! Where's yours, sats? Yes, a useful and enjoyable get-together. Cheers, Bjenks (talk) 04:22, 7 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
