On February 15, 2017, Wikipedia Connection will be working with Ohio State's Assocation of Computing Machinery Women's chapter to host the Women in Computing Edit-a-thon 2017, an edit-a-thon focused on improving Wikipedia's articles on women in computing and related fields. Wikipedia currently has over 330 articles on women computer scientists, with the potential for more.

Food and refreshments will be available. Anyone with an interest in the cause and editing is welcome to join - no prior editing experience is required! Please be sure to bring a laptop, and be aware of our Friendly Space Policy.

  • Who should participate:
    • Everyone is welcome! While this event takes place on campus and is run by a university student organization, you do not have to be affiliated with the Ohio State University to attend. We welcome students, faculty, staff, and Wikipedians from all around the area to join us, regardless of skill level.
  • What to expect:
    • The goal of this event is to create and improve Wikipedia articles related to women in computer.
    • The event will begin with a presentation of Wikipedia a quick guide to editing - previous editing experience not required!
    • Food, snacks, and refreshments will be provided, along with some goodies.

  • Sophie Vandebroek, former CTO of Xerox. Article needs expansion and updating (e.g. no longer CTO of Xerox).
  • WorldWIT, a defunct discussion community for women in business and technology. Article needs clean-up, expansion, and sources.
  • WOUGNET, Ugandan non-governmental organization dedicated to aiding women in information and communication technologies. Needs clean-up, expansion, and sources.
  • DC Web Women, nonprofit professional organization for women in technology. Needs expansion and sources.
  • Systers, international electronic mailing list for technical women in computing. Needs organization, better sources, and updates.
  • Martine Kempf, French computer scientists. Needs expansion (only a sentence long!).
