Citations for the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) edit

 

Each IPCC Assessment Report (AR) consists of four volumes: the reports of the three Working Groups (WG1, WG2, and WG3), and a Synthesis Report (SYR). Each volume has a Summary for Policymakers (SPM), and various other chapters and annexes. One of the ways to cite these sources is using short-cite (given below) as "in-line citations", which link to the full citation. These short-cites can include page number(s), or section headings to make verification easier. These are usually placed in notes (perhaps with other citations or comments) using the <ref>...</ref> tags. Note that these pre-formatted short-cites (as revised in 2019) do not use the authors' or editors' last names, as that was found to be confusing, and cumbersome to implement.

This can be:

  • one full citation for each chapter (annex, etc.) cited, which links to
  • a full citation for the volume (Working Group or Synthesis report) containing the chapter.
